Yes because that has worked for English football for so long! Asking to play 4-4-2 is like wanting VHS and lead petrol back. I think its been well shown that this formation is too rigid and doesn't allow players to get in the space on the wings or just in front of the back 2.
Maybe Gus is looking at Barca/Spain way...4 defenders...6 Midfielders....well it took Italy apart.

This thread is getting very confusing, what with 4-4-2, then 4-6-0, then with John Terry choosing only to play three a side, and that with girls as well.

And as for Wayne bridge not having a hunger for the game anymore, there would probably be a world of difference between being on the sidelines at the Etihad and coming to the Amex, which might actually catch the imagination.
