The FA will do f*** all.
But this is absolutely disgusting. Some people need to sort their lives out and get a grip.
I hope this isn't forgotten.

i agree with the fa doing nothing about it. that seems to be their way.

i remember dickinson being bit on the back by a chester player during a corner at a game and although the bit mark was photographed on the manager's phone camera and displayed to the fa the chester player got a 1 match ban and a weeks fine. disgusting i think that that kind of behaviour should be let off so lieniently. the player in question had only just come back from a long ban too for violent behaviour. :US::tantrum:

Racist abuse in D block last night - North Stand Chat

One person commented on my post then it sank without trace. Let he who is without sin etc.

You posted it in 'Ask the Club' which explains the reaction. Or lack of:

The only person who can respond to a thread in 'Ask the Club' is Insider in order to stop Ask the Club becoming binfest-central. I suspect if you had posted this on the main board as a discussion topic as well, then it would have received more than one reply and, who knows, there may have been some help in identifying the culprit(s).

Didn't see this before, but equally unacceptable

hope this last comment is true.
I am now in my 64th year on this earth and ever since I could understand, there has been bullying especially racial bullying and living most of my life in the Brighton area was somewhat shielded from hearing it Brighton being as cosmopolitan as it is.
I have lived in many other places in these Isles and to be blatantly honest its everywhere and if theres someone who wants to take his/her bad day out on someone its normally those with a different colour skin to ours that get it.
Its a shame that all the supporters of a club are tarred because normally its only the ignorant few that feel they have to do this.

RANT OVER

There's no tolerance at Withdean regards racism.
It is not a bad thing if you hear it in the stands, to report it to a steward.

No second chances or warnings;- it's instant ejection from the ground if heard.

does that apply to homphobic abuse or is that ok?

Quote from Great Cornholio;
"Stewards seem keen to kick out people who stand but seem happy to turn a blind eye to "banana boat" references (As well as the constant homophobic chanting of most away teams I might add.)

Can the club please reiterate to the stewards that the club is an active supporter of the "Kick it out" campaign and is not just paying lip service to it? I was throughly ashamed to be an Albion supporter leaving the ground last night and was sad that I was unable to make a direct report to stewards as I couldn't know for certain who it was. (Although I had a fair idea.)"

It's iterated to stewards at practically every match, in the briefing.
Supporters can also help, by letting stewards know what is said and from who.
Bad language is also not acceptable, but whenever I've had to explain to anyone, they understood and stopped it. Racism will never have that understanding - it will mean ejection from the ground.

NMH...you going to answer my question please?

NMH...you going to answer my question please?

This isn't just about abuse aimed at individuals (which I think is mainly dealt with properly). It's also about collective behaviour. I think the question Dave is asking is:-

Is there a difference between a mass of supporters chanting "Does your boyfriend know you're here?" and a mass of supporters chanting "You're just a town full of pakis"?

My perception is that Clubs generally deal with the second chant differently from the first. Fortunately, we never hear the second chant at Withdean.

I didn't post it to start a discussion - just make the club aware. (Besides which I didn't think starting a thread on racism would be helpful at the time.) But it was picked up in this thread and rather ignored.

http://www.northstandchat.com/showthread.php?t=164320&highlight=colchester

I was only highlighting the fact that there are howls of protest and demands of the FA when it is against but quietly ignored when it is from Albion supporters.

Do I have to stay at home in anticipation for any and every question granny?

No, homophobic abuse is not allowed, racism is not allowed. Swearing is looked upon as poor behaviour and may get a warning or.... if it's a repeat of previous behaviour patterns or a signal that the perpetrator is drunk or aggressive - off they go.
Whipping out your shlong (or your lshort) is also out of the question.

Some things you can do in the comfort of your own home, but not in public, and particularly not at our hosted football matches.

I must admit I didn't hear the racist abuse or see the players' reaction, but I was sitting in my car after the game having a coffee and a paramedic car came at considerable speed down the road I was parked in, and once I was on the move, an ambulance came along just as fast. I suppose the Smith incident was the reason.

Worst racist abuse I have heard from Albion fans was at Luton a few years ago, if you can call it racist; town full of bombers (inaccurate, as they only met at Luton) and where's your taliban? I have to say I was fairly shocked though.

If that's the same game that I remember ... judging by the conversations I overheard between the perpetrators, they were certainly racists.

Having lived and worked in that part of Devon for 3 years in the late 1990s, I'm sad to say that racism and homophobia are more prevalent there than they are here. I remember being at work one evening and we had telly on watching a documentary about Justin Fashanu; the comments from one of my colleagues (an otherwise intelligent man) were not repeatable.
