Ultimately Coppell didn't do a job, yes he gave us some hope and we played nice football, but we didn't stay up and he didn't take us up the next year
Well we were in a similar position and got Coppell...

Richie Morris said:I would happily have someone come in until the end of the season and then f*** off so long as they keep us up.
Adams, Taylor, Coppell...they all went but they all did a job first.
Say we get a manager in until the end of the season. He keeps us up and worse case scenerio then leaves. It will still be easier to attract a new man in if we are offering Championship football.
We keep McGhee, go down. McGhee leaves and we are stuck with all the problems that come with managing Brighton without the carrot of managing a Championship team.
El Presidente said:Coppell took us down remember. And before you say he took us over when we were already down, he took us out of the bottom three by Easter, and then back down into it.
That was with a team featuring Zamora, Rodger, Blackwell, Kitson (when he did play he was good) Ingmarrson, Cullip and Brooker.
The players we now have are an honest bunch of good lads, but lack the overall class to get results. Magoo is an easy target.
DJ Leon said:It puzzles me why all the anti-McGhee brigade think Coppell was brilliant with us. The facts are simple: he took us down and he then pissed off to Reading. That's not the kind of manager I want.
bhaexpress said:Yes but Ritchie, even at your tender years you need to realise that we don't always get what we want, that's life.

I want a Brighton team that plays with passion.
Oh for fucks sake,Richie Morris said:Paul Simpson at Carlisle.
Holloway if he has not joined Leicester by then.
Martin Allen, although unlikely perhaps.
Dennis Wise.
Leroy Rosenior.
They could not do any worse.
Richie Morris said:If he had stuck another striker on or just tried something different and we had lost 3v1 I would be happier.

Paul Simpson, may well take Carlisle up and will probably be in the same league as us next year, have a decent ground and can attract decent players,Michael bridges.
Ian holloway will get the Leicester job.
Martin Allen,see paul simpson.
Dennis Wise, good Novelty value, that's about all.
And do You mean The same leroy Rosenior that has just been sacked by a team one place and one point away from going out of the league.
NEXT.

Richie Morris said:They were SUGGESTIONS. I do not know who would apply for the job but history tells us we would have no shortage of applicants.
It is not like we could do much worse.
And Tom Hark Preston Park the point I was making, as I suspect you know fair well, is that I would rather McGhee had actually done something and had a go at trying to get the win. Whether it be taking off a defender and going three at the back or just shoving El Abd or McShane upfont for the last ten minutes.
At least he would have TRIED something. I would rather we went for it, gave it a go and were unlucky but lost 3v1 then sat back and accepted defeat.
Richie Morris said:...was when he told me to f*** Off.
All the McGhee defenders always point to the man's passion. There was not much passion on show today. He looked like a cardboard cut out of Sven Goran Eriksson on the side today.
There is not plan B. He does not know how to influence things by changing tactics and his body language and apathy gave the look of a man resigned to relegation.
And this is achieved by the manager getting hysterical on the edge of the dug-out?Richie Morris said:Very true.
