Ultimately Coppell didn't do a job, yes he gave us some hope and we played nice football, but we didn't stay up and he didn't take us up the next year

I would swap yesterdays performance for a GLIMMER of hope...

I would happily have someone come in until the end of the season and then f*** off so long as they keep us up.

Adams, Taylor, Coppell...they all went but they all did a job first.

Say we get a manager in until the end of the season. He keeps us up and worse case scenerio then leaves. It will still be easier to attract a new man in if we are offering Championship football.

We keep McGhee, go down. McGhee leaves and we are stuck with all the problems that come with managing Brighton without the carrot of managing a Championship team.

Yes but Ritchie, even at your tender years you need to realise that we don't always get what we want, that's life.

Coppell took us down remember. And before you say he took us over when we were already down, he took us out of the bottom three by Easter, and then back down into it.

That was with a team featuring Zamora, Rodger, Blackwell, Kitson (when he did play he was good) Ingmarrson, Cullip and Brooker.

The players we now have are an honest bunch of good lads, but lack the overall class to get results. Magoo is an easy target.

It puzzles me why all the anti-McGhee brigade think Coppell was brilliant with us. The facts are simple: he took us down and he then pissed off to Reading. That's not the kind of manager I want.

Dead right.

We want him to f*** off BEFORE he takes us down.

Paul Simpson at Carlisle.
Holloway if he has not joined Leicester by then.
Martin Allen, although unlikely perhaps.
Dennis Wise.
Leroy Rosenior.

They could not do any worse.
Oh for fucks sake,
Paul Simpson, may well take Carlisle up and will probably be in the same league as us next year, have a decent ground and can attract decent players,Michael bridges.
Ian holloway will get the Leicester job.
Martin Allen,see paul simpson.
Dennis Wise, good Novelty value, that's about all.
And do You mean The same leroy Rosenior that has just been sacked by a team one place and one point away from going out of the league.
NEXT.

They were SUGGESTIONS. I do not know who would apply for the job but history tells us we would have no shortage of applicants.

It is not like we could do much worse.

And Tom Hark Preston Park the point I was making, as I suspect you know fair well, is that I would rather McGhee had actually done something and had a go at trying to get the win. Whether it be taking off a defender and going three at the back or just shoving El Abd or McShane upfont for the last ten minutes.

At least he would have TRIED something. I would rather we went for it, gave it a go and were unlucky but lost 3v1 then sat back and accepted defeat.

Don't think its the players fault, its the management, training and confidence or should I say the lack of it.. We need a good coach who knows how to play football.

Name a good one then .

If Magoo walks out on us ( we can hope).

We'd have to find someone then. So all this "there's nobody that will want the job" becomes irrelevant.

Face it he's walked out on a few of his past jobs so why wouldn't he do it here?

Trouble is Ritchie, people like you snipe away happily but frankly don't see the bigger picture which tends to deminish the validity of you non sto ranting. If you could summon up something constructive then people might take you seriously. For example, throwing a handful of managers names into the pot when none of them has the same track record as Mark McGhee shows a serious lack of thought. As a prospecive journalist your objectivity is questionable. Mind you I think that could get you a job with News International.

...was when he told me to f*** Off.

All the McGhee defenders always point to the man's passion. There was not much passion on show today. He looked like a cardboard cut out of Sven Goran Eriksson on the side today.

There is not plan B. He does not know how to influence things by changing tactics and his body language and apathy gave the look of a man resigned to relegation.

Perhaps if our support was'nt so pathetic he'd get more motivated, it does'nt help when 6000 people sit there in complete silence for 90 minutes. The support is a complete joke at Withdean, imagine if Pompey were in the same situation as us do you think there fans would sit there like we do? No they f***ing would'nt because they get behind their team, unless the fans start getting behind the players we are doomed.

I do see the bigger picture.

I can accept the limitations of Withdean, the lack of funds, the small squad, the crap atmosphere at Withdean and the fact we are having to throw a lot of youngsters in to a relegation battle.

I do not mind seeing Brighton lose if I feel they have given it their best shot. Nobody can ask anything more of a player then giving it their all.

BUT

Yesterday the team lacked passion, determination, could not pass the ball five feet to a team mate without it going behind them or selling them short and the fight which has for so long been the backbone of our team was missing.

In the shadow of Seaford Head
Hurling abuse at the Manager has gone on for ever but I do not recall it ever acheiving anything on the field.

What is it with men in their 30's and 40's who think it's ok to all stand on the track as the game ends shouting swear words at the manager. Women and kids were leaving and looking shocked at the foul language being used and the Stewards did nothing yet they march a man out for finishing his ciggie.

I don't think anyone came out with any credit from yesterday. The players, the management, the stewards. and the fans all let themselves down.

You have to accept something is wrong Lord B.

The team spirit, backs the wall, dogedness and determination that has for so long been the backbone of this team's success was nowhere to be seen yesterday.

That has to have something to do with how the manager is preparing the players for games and how he motivates them when things go badly.
