If I get bored with a book I chuck or give it away. If people are bored with it then why feel the need to open the thread, read it and even respond to it? Genuine question as there appear to be more than 1 and if peeps want to speculate why shouldn't they be able to?

If anyone believes that some substantial information might be revealed I'd say forget it and tune into the club website which is the only place that the outcome of this will be found

Either you don't understand me or I haven't fully explained myself properly. I am, not bored with the actual thought of him signing for us again and in fact I think that he will see out his remaining year with us. He will probably leave then and join Elche when he is a year older but still well capable of playing in the Spanish 2nd Division. What I am bored with is the continual referral to badly automated translated press reports from Spain. What I would like is a person fluent in Spanish able to translate into readable sensible easy to understand English versions. Perhaps I should get the Spanish version and ask my nephews GF who is Spanish and works for BA and speaks perfect English to do it for me. I fail to see how Elche or anybody else can expect us to just let him go without any form of compensation.

If she's anywhere near as fit as my nephew's bilingual girlfriend I'd get her to a lot more than that.

OK I thought you were just bored with the thread and moaning about that. Can't deny I wish the whole saga would conclude but it's a little different to being bored.

So here's what I think ... all in English! Elche can't or don't want to pay a fee having negotiated wages with Vicente on that basis. Brighton got a sniff of what was going on when Vicente stalled on coming back and Barber/Bloom realised we were going to get turned over when July 1 arrived so took up the option. Now Vicente is buggered and a bit of behind closed doors diplomacy is going on so everyone can save face. He knows if he doesn't compromise on his wages at Elche to allow them some wiggle room to pay a (modest) fee he'll have to come back, we know if we force him back he'll develop the mystery injury again and will be paying for nothing until we lose patience and just tell him to do one.

It'll get wrapped up early next week, he'll stay in Spain and we''ll say we did OK out of it and it was only fair on him etc etc.

Simple really .... and nothing boring there for me. But sure someone will take delight in reminding me how wrong I am when the man scores 2 and makes another couple on the opening day of season!!

.... or just let him stew a bit until the January window....... on the bench, let him freeze his nuts on then bring him on for the last 3 mins...... too harsh?

Not harsh if he was trying to dupe us, (and that's a big if) but at £10K a week or whatever it is it's not a sensible financial solution just for a bit of revenge. After all he's well used to not playing! We'll get a few bob I reckon

She is about 28/30 years old and an air hostess for BA and is quite fit so much so that most would go for if given the chance

Excellent. Bet she wears her hair in a tight bun at work too. I always like it when the fit air hostesses check that your seat belt is done up. In my head they're checking out my tackle every time. Brilliant.

...mind you, a reporter would be convinced about anything that he thinks will sell as a story.

He won't be missed as he was crap and only deluded fools think otherwise, not even in the top million of best ever Albion players
Fair point, well made.

Disappointing as this may all turn out, the Brighton board have done exactly what they should have done to protect the club's interests.

Must admit the part of me that would like to think players remember what clubs have done for them, and they might owe a debt to in some way, has long given up the ghost on that concept. It no longer exists, sadly.

Thinking through it a bit more ... if Gus has said publicly (as he has) that he won't hold Vicente to the option then the very same conversation would obviously been had with the player and so the fact that we have exercised it probably has no bearing anyway. Vicente can reasonably say that that the club gave up their right to exercise the option. I'm no lawyer but I wouldn't imagine we'd want to get bogged down in any costly legal activity which looks far from certain to me. Defo time to move on

If he had come out at the end of the season and asked to leave then it probably would have happened that way, but according to Gus he had '90-95%' negotiated a new contract, so wasn't looking to get out. TB exercised the clause as we thought we were near a done deal. Only other clubs sniffing around seem to have altered this.

Ok apologies for calling you a muppet, but dont pretend that you are in the know, cos admit it you dont, like every other poster on this board.

No, I am not in the know on this one, hence the extended use of "If"...

Again, a lack of information released to the public and speculation is rife. I just thought he was free to leave if he wanted from what Gus had said.

Just to clarify... the option FOR OUR CLUB to extend Vicente's contract by 1 year was always in the legally-binding contract that was signed 1 year ago... Gus chose (mistake) to spout off in the press that he wouldn't ENFORCE the contract extension...
