Of course it's ahead of your precious iPhone in just about every other category

What, all the meaningless techy stuff, and you're just conveniently missing out the one thing that really matters: The OS.

How is the tech meaningless?

Have you tried running iOS 6 on an iPhone 3GS? It's f***ing shit. Why? Because the TECHNOLOGY inside isn't capable enough.

The inside specs make a world of difference in this quickly advancing world.

And iOS vs Android is basically down to user preference. There are no real killer blows that either has over the other, aside from the higher quantity of free apps on Android and the superiority of Google's Mapping over the piss-poor debacle on the latest iOS which has just cost the man responsible his job at Apple. How embarrassing

I'm very happy I wavered so long about getting an iphone 5. I think this is the phone to tear me away from iphones - I was THIS close to buying an iphone for £529 earlier this week, I would have felt like a bit of a mug had I done that. I'll lose a few apps probably by moving, but I will never, ever miss itunes, I loathe it and have never understood how it works.

I admit this was a bit of a surprise but to be honest it doesn't put me off.

For a start there is no 4G coverage around here, secondly there is only one network capable of 4G speeds at the moment (and I'm not with them) and thirdly, when it does roll out it is going to be a lot more expensive. I think I will wait until it is universally available and more reasonably priced, by which time I will have upgraded from this handset anyway

Same here, also I think that when 4G is rolled out in all networks its going to use a different frequency and that some current 4G phones can't use - has anyone else seen that?

Go on then I'll bite, enlighten me to the amazing experiences I'm currently having on my iPhone 4 that I'd lose by UPgrading to this?

The wireless charging Orb does look pretty cool

Can't say I have, but I agree with your (and Colossal Squid) reasoning. I'm due a new phone at the end of the month and have been considering some of my options. 4G looks like a complete non-starter for me, with prices starting on EE at £36 a month (I currently spend £20). In two years time, when my new contract may be ending, 4G will be similar to normal prices now, but at the moment because it's new and non-standard there's a massive premium for it. To be honest with wifi as prevalent as it is I don't really use the 3G network on my phone very much anyway.

Must say, despite saying previously that I didn't want to pay a lot for a phone, that this new Nexus is very tempting. Seems very reasonably priced (keep it for 2 years and its c£10 a month) and I could get a GiffGaff deal for £10 a month which would mean I'd be spending the same as now for a new phone and unlimited internet (compared to 500 Mb maximum at the moment).

Time to be excited! The critically acclaimed Nexus 4 handset is set to be unleashed on us lucky punters later this month.

Nexus – Google

More powerful than any handset on the market today and featuring the very latest version of the world's best selling mobile OS, this really does look like the phone to beat.

Early reviews have come out universally praising its specs and design, although the fact it's only going to initially be available in 8gb and 16gb variants will piss some people off. Personally I think 16gb is more than adequate for a phone however.

But the real killer blow? You can pick this bad boy up, unlocked, for just £239.

That's right, £239.

That's a price point that other top end handsets can't even get close to. Consider that the best phone on the market right now, Samsung's Galaxy S3, will cost you £400. And the widely derided iPhone 5 is a staggering £529 on its own. That's more than TWICE the price for a significantly inferior product.

HOW have Google and LG reached this ludicrously low price?

I confidently predict this handset will soon become the best selling smartphone of all time.

So when will YOU be buying YOURS?

Nah you're alright thanks, i'll stick with my iPhone 5.

That's the spirit!

I think when you break it down the value really is unbeatable compared to anything else on the market right now.

Re: the wireless charging, there are coffee shops rolling out wireless charging capabilities in their outlets embedded in every table. That means you only need sit down and pop your phone on the table for it to get some much needed extra juice while you're out and about. Assuming it catches on and this becomes a common thing it would seriously help with the problem of short battery life

You serious? That's embarrassing. So it's out of date before its even come out.

really? how good is your 4G signal in Brighton then?

and are you aware the iphone5 isnt compatible with the frequencies to be used in the main roll out when it occurs?

That's fine by me. I don't work for Google or LG, I don't make any money from sales of this handset. I'm just excited about its launch because it's so much better than anything else out there. The iPhone was once a world beater, but its latest incarnation is disappointing by Apple's own standards and the hefty price tag means new iPhone owners are paying an awful lot of money simply for the Apple logo. I don't think there's any value in the premium that Apple charge on iPhones anymore

£239? That's ridiculously good value for a phone of that quality. Of course there are not many user reviews out yet, but it looks like it is just as good in terms of specs as most other phones released to date. I need a new phone and will buy this when it comes out in a couple of weeks.
