It’s a real shame those media outlets pushing this as why the road map was wrong are now ignoring it to calm people’s nerves.

An exit wave was expected

We are in a good place

Including a scientist plugged all day on TV and radio, claiming strictly following the rest of this roadmap was quite possibly an awful mistake .... given the Indian Variant. It’s just his opinion, not a scientific certainty.

Scientists with an optimistic or less forthright opinion weren’t given any airtime or permitted time to discuss it.

I assume if you go back, he cited the same
Modelling as a reason why we shouldn’t a few weeks ago!

Been like that for a while ...Sky was pedalling someone yesterday who had no qualifications in the relevant field....Pagel was pushed a lot yesterday by bbc without anyone to offer an alternative view....and today it was some behavioral psychologist again with no one offering an alternative view

Pagel’s background is worth a look, pre Covid she’s very much overtly party political. ‘Independent’ Sage is a ragtag of scientists with political stances or careers shunted to one side, scores to settle.

The beauty of Dr Chris Smith and their ilk is that they have no connection to either end of this politically polarised nation, and make damn sure they only ever talk in scientific facts. If they don’t know an answer, they say so.

The latest percentage change for the rolling 7 day average in Bolton has new cases shrinking.

Quick interpretation for the graph for those that do not realise what this is showing:
If it's on the plus side (top) and higher than the day before, cases are increasing at a faster rate.
If it's on the plus side (top) and lower than the day before, cases are increasing at a slower rate.
If it's on the negative side (bottom) and lower than the day before, cases are decreasing at a faster rate.
If it's on the negative side (bottom) and higher than the bay before, case are decreasing at a slower rate.

Good news that isn't being reported - there are fewer people in hospital on 27th May (the latest figures) than there have been on any day since last September 13th. So presumably the increased numbers being admitted are being released again pretty promptly.

Yes, this is indeed good news! Hospitalisations are tending to be younger which means less likelihood of serious complications and quicker release. And incidentally very few of them are fully vaccinated, proving the efficacy of the vaccines.

I know it’s a bank holiday weekend so there will be reporting delays but this is still great news.

Even though there is a bank holiday involved this is the most tremendous news. ZERO UK deaths reported today for the first time since March last year.

New cases are also showing a levelling off and small decline despite the Dire warnings regarding Covid Delta (new name for Indian variant)

It is right and proper to be cautious but surely even the most pessimistic can see we are close to the end of this and even if there is a delay to the June 21st changes, its only a delay not a cancellation.

Zero deaths in the UK reported, lower numbers in hospital, infection rates don’t seem to be increasing after the recent small rise..........June 21 still looks reasonable :)

Dead arm from my Pfizer jab earlier today. Lots of really young people getting jabbed there today. Every jab bends the R rate down that little bit more.
