Not really....the main breeding ground has been the Bradford and Central Yorkshire league. Players have come through the acadamy, gone into the leagues and not really shown the promise. When Tendulkar was employed, it was hoped that this would be the catalyst to bring asian players on - only now are they reaping the rewards.
How does any of that refute my assertion that the whippet brigade were, to put it mildly, a bit slow on the uptake?

it doesnt...what it does is explain that the academy players did not make the impact in league cricket and therefore it was decided to carry on with the policy until they did...

funnily enough the racism card was never really used in this argument. More the fact that Yorkshire Commitee would have prefered overseas " big Stars" than take a chance on up and coming youngsters. Goffie used this as one of the conditions of his return that they use local talent ( and the fact that as Headingly was not being used for test matches and therefore Yorkshire were broke).

there was actually grumblings when Rudolph and Gillespie were signed!!!

about bloody time... only took them a couple of decades to catch up with the rest of the country...

I agree wholeheartedly. There a loads of teams in Bradford of very keen Asian yorkshiremen.
Yorkshire had the ruling of being born in the county for decades and questions were being asked back in the 80's when it was clear that Asians who were good were born in the county.
