What is this business with Kirtley not being able to play because he has to go and "practice" at the England training camp before going into the 20/20 World Cup?

Surely match practice is what he needs and bowling against the likes of Rudolph and Inzamam is much better than bowling in the nets?

Good toss to win...

Sussex: Nash, Montgomerie, Yardy, Goodwin, Adams, Hodd, Martin-Jenkins, Saqlain, Naved, Mushtaq, Lewry

Yorkshire: Vaughan, Gale, McGrath, Inzamam, Rudolph, Brophy, Rashid, Bresnan, Tahir, Hoggard, Shahzad

Both spinners playing then.

Not a good start for a HUGE match
winning the toss was MASSIVE... obviously we will probably totally screw it up now and get bowled out for 240 and 170 - but if by some miracle we can post a couple of decent totals then Mushy1 and Mushy2 WILL do the business on the last day...

Not that you softies care, however I think it is great that Yorkshire are utilising the local talent from the Asian population of Yorks.

You have Rashid, from Bradford and Shahzad from Hudds playing today ( rashid is being looked at to go to Sri lanka as the other spinner with panesar)

This could well be a spinner game with Rashid and Tahir against Mushy and Sacky

about bloody time... only took them a couple of decades to catch up with the rest of the country...

I tuned in, heard the 30 seconds of dead air with atmosphere of Hove followed by a surprised cry of `that's a four` and thought: yep, that's Leesy! Moving on nicely now: 78-1 from 18

You're joking aren't you. 78-1 isabsolutely abysmal. Might as well fill the trophy up with Yorkshire Tea now.

Impossible I'm afraid as the trophy is already overflowing with Lancashire's finest brew. We'll let them fight it out among themselves, a war of the Rosie Lees!

Not really....the main breeding ground has been the Bradford and Central Yorkshire league. Players have come through the acadamy, gone into the leagues and not really shown the promise. When Tendulkar was employed, it was hoped that this would be the catalyst to bring asian players on - only now are they reaping the rewards.
