A complete disaster for gross yesterday, and also his talents are wasted in that position. Criminal to use caciedo at right back.

Webster has played there before for other teams, and I like him , dunk and colwill playing together. Any reason why Roberto doesn't fancy it ?

Maybe he’s tried them all in training and made his decision that way

Isn’t Colwill a better choice given he’s quicker and also means we don’t have to break up the first choice CB pair?

Odell Offiah has been on the bench the last few weeks and had a crazy last 10 minutes at Forest. He is strong and athletic and comfortable on the ball, so I can only assume that it is a lack of confidence in his passing ability, which is holding him back.

Given our game is based on precision passing you have probably answered your own question. Unfortunately the only time I feel comfortable with our RB situation is when Veltman is there or Gross is on top form.

Conceeding two goals so early, meant we had ceeded control of the game. We played Everton's game for the rest of the match as we chased a result and they had no need or desire to press us on our own goal line.

100% Webby should be full back over a central midfielder.

It's incredible to me we keep reverting to Gross there.

RDZ needs to spend less time making a point with his selections and more time picking the team most likely to win a game.

I don’t see Webster as a full back. He has the wrong physique, isn’t quick or nimble, gives the ball away when not under pressure, is better attacking the ball face on, is 2nd favourite in a 2 horse race and prefers to play central.

Hopefully a top RB is high on our shopping list. Veltman and Lamptey are too injury prone and there’s no one coming through from the U21, with Offiah being moved to CH in recent matches.

I feel like playing Gross at RB hasn't been exposed until last night when you really saw what happens when a CM/AM is played at RB and has considerable defending to do. He couldn't do it and that's not really a criticism, it's a specialised position and he was totally stripped bare.

Fair play to Everton though, they scored early which set the game up perfectly for them and they managed it to absolute perfection. It was just a freak game, caused by an early goal tipping the balance in their favour but you still have to recognise how efficient, dangerous and ruthless they were.

Gross has done amazingly well at RB until yesterday and it even allows us to make the attacking more unpredictable, but Gross didn't have Solly to help him out yesterday and probably won't for the rest of the season. So it does seem likely we need a different solution.
Exactly. This team relies even more than most on partnerships all over the field. Gross and March have an almost telepathic understanding of each others game, and March is great defensively. That's the problem.
Webster hasn't got the skill set to play wide, he'll give the ball away like he did countless times yesterday being too gung ho, and decent wingers will rinse his 6ft4 frame.
We need more players. That's the answer. Not kids. Players who are experienced and understand their roles. I'm not saying ditch the younger players at all, just think we really should consolidate this season and the money we will receive over the summer by prioritising 2 or 3 senior players for our most problematic positions.

Attribute wise (Can tackle, isn’t that slow, good in tight spaces, passing) wouldnt Gilmour be better placed to play RB for the remainder of the season.

We could then play Gross where he is effective

Yeah, makes sense. RDZ likes his fullbacks to be able to pass. You wonder how much Alzate would have featured.
