I quite like Fosters, all year around. But if I had to pick a drink, I'd drink in the Summer BECAUSE it's the summer it would probably be an Ice Cold Corona with a slice of Lime/Lemon, in it.

In the Offy round the corner from me, they sell Bud Ice, at 89p a bottle, which is a 4.7% 'light' lager. Lovely stuff.

But If I'm going to have a beer before I go out, it would have to be San Miguel - that stuff goes straight to my head

Erdinger , Witterkerke , Hooegarden are all marvellous summer beers. Blue Moon is ok. At the risk of sounding like a beer snob it actually depresses me that people drink Budweiser. Whenever I see anyone buying it I always try to talk them out of it.

Actually Anheuser Busch do do one half decent summer beer called Shocktop which is their take on a Belgian white beer. Not sure if they sell it in the UK though. They dish it out free at Busch Gardens which is handly when it's over
100F.

I worked in Portland Oregon for a while and they used to have some great micro-breweries there. Full Sail IPA used to go down very well and another one called McTarnahans I think - are any of those available in Seattle ?

When you are a bit wiser you will look back on this recommendation and wince

Its ubiquity doesn't alter the fact it's still a decent beer.

It's certainly above-average and definitely quaffable, though for my money, there are nicer beers.

Ain't nothing wrong with Duvel. Duvel-Moortgat are one of the few biggish breweries that still place a higher value on product quality than glossy marketing. And I happen know that the author of this book Good Beer Guide Belgium: Amazon.co.uk: Tim Webb: Books holds a similar opinion - because I was out drinking with him in Antwerp last Saturday and this very subject came up.

Of course it's not the 'best beer in the world', but it sure does the job when sat on a sunny terrace.
