It's not even the end of the season and already teams are unloading their unwanted players in preperation for a new campaign. We all know we need quality in most area's of the team, But each season we see another transfer window open and close, missing out on the much needed 2/3 to make the difference.

How many players have we JUST missed out on and im certain this summer will be the same.

Two players who we should be bidding for already have come to light that would make a big difference...Bircham (released by qpr)
& Mcveigh (Norwich)

It's time Dick to stump up with some wages for some quality players....If the stories in jan about 150k+ and a massive wage for a certain Leon Constantine were true then a couple of bosmans.....with big wages should even itself out......

I'm sure these players will not be looking for a huge wage..But will dick go beyond 50p and a token for the pier...

A very frustrating & non-eventful transfer window/summer beckons i'm afraid. It's exactly the reason why wilkins will be gone by october..he will not be given the wages to suceed...we dont need to buy players..enough quality will be released for free but shame is we wont be willing to offer wages to tempt them.

If you dont pay 100k for a player...surely you have the resources to up the wage level?

I take on board all of your points. We've never, ever been a club to go and sign a 'big name' player who has already been under contract elsewhere. When we do sign 'names' it's usually because the owning club are desperate to get rid, or that they have not had their contracts renewed due to injury, age, attitude.

Besides, most of the times we sign known players, anyone could have told you what was wrong with them!!

Kitson - pros - good player, well known, played at highest level
cons - injury prone, massive wage, signing on fee, old and lost pace due to previous injuries

The fact is if it's a well-known player a better team would come in for him. From the players point of view we can offer a tiny stadium, division two football, (just about), lower than average wages by league one standards, an unknown manager and no real sturdy contacts in the game. (if you exclude, er, Hastings, oh and Arsenal :lolol: )

We have to 'make do' and keep naturing our fantastic youth system, and if another Zamora comes up (who was, remember, a big - Turienzo big - gamble, an unknown player having played about four professional games out of position in Division 3.. ) then great. But it's unlikely.

We are one of those clubs to make unknown/young players famous then quickly sell them on so we can afford to keep playing each week.

byf, we don't have money, when will you understand this? Despite what DK says, we are a very poor club, with a small budget, and we are constantly losing money. Pretty much any money we have to spend has come out of gifts/loans from directors.

I think, as DK is prone to, that the Leon Constantine thing was a smoke screen to say "look who we nearly signed" and get supporters off his back. Constantine made it clear he wanted to move to a Championship club. We could go to AC Milan and agree a fee for Kaka, doesn't mean he's going to make the move does it.

all together now...

Wise, Wise, whatever have you done?
You've taken Leeds to Division One,
You won't win a cup,
You won't win a shield,
your biggest game will be Huddersfield...

We dont have the money....I disagree..we can only believe what we are being told....and that is we have finances available...if dick is lying..then why believe him on anything he says...he said there was money when mcghee was here...so how many lied does the man say.

Regarding it being a smoke screen, I think that is possible but I dont think that was the case...Signing a port vale striker who has one good season cannot be put up against Kaka.... It was one player and one big wage...we can afford that...!

If he came straight out and said were broke and will not be signing anyone..then the expectation would be lower...the pressure on wilkins would be less and we would accept were going no-where next season...

But I thought public thought was we had cash....not millions..but a little to strengthen!

Be good if we could sign a Darren Anderton type player on a pay as you play basis. Bet Bournemouth fans loved having a bit of real class in their team and he probably had quite a bit to do with them staying up even if he was injured a bit.

We have enough to keep going. A healthy playing budget. That is for wages.
We are surviving, but you don't issue press releases saying 'We are surviving' That doesn't help anyone.

Brightons healthy - will not attract anyone that will bang 20+ goals!

Instead lets release a pack of lies and string the fans along!

For what purpose?

Even if we do manage to get a 20+ striker then what do we do when promoted? Face coming back down again because we can't pay £10K a week Championship wages.

Well theres a positive attitude!!!

So lets not buy a decent player that brings the fans back and gets the gates bigger, because even if we do go up,we will go back down again...I see your logic??!!!

May as well not go at all..save the dissapointment!

10k.......where did you pluck that from?
