Exactly how is £1400 a year deemed reasonably for what could be league one football? You get a bigger seat and access to lounges.

Considering a basic ST at some premiership grounds can start at £1000, £1400 is value for those who want avail themselves of the "corporate hospitality" experience. I agree it would be diabolical value for the rest of us, as indeed would prices in the upper £500's.

Firstly, we are not a premiership club and there is no guarantee that we will be a championship club when we open at Falmer. Secondly, are you saying the £1400 includes food and drink? My understanding was that you got access to the lounges but had to buy the food and drink yourself. Hardly corporate hospitality.

Sorry if this has been mentioned (I'm busy and have a lot to catch up on) the price before june 11th - is that only available to current season ticket holders? That's the dealine for season ticket holder, meaning it won't be available to new or returning STH, right?

Some people on here live in a dream world. "Thank you for supporting us through the years at Withdean here's £50 off". Was never going to happen. Neither will price drops at Falmer. However what there will be at Falmer is different prices for different parts of the ground. I would imagine that the cheapest seats at Falmer will be less than at Withdean but there will be many areas that are more expensive.

Applies to anyone purchasing prior to June 11th, not just ST renewals.

I know we are not a premiership club, and no the £1400 does not include F&D (as I understand it), but then neither does the lounge at withdean and that believe it or not is still a pleasant experience, at Falmer this will improve tenfold.

These seats are aimed at those who have a bit more cash than the rest of us and provide a valuable source of premium income for the club. That most of the seats have been taken by those who currently enjoy the same set up at Withdean suggests that value is indeed to be had there.

I'm not entirely sure what your gripe is. The club could really have tried to milk their current business supporters but have not chosen to do so imho. I hope that the same line of thinking is extended to the rest of us when it comes to deciding the general admission seats.

I thought it would be between 5-10% so I am not surprised of the rise but pleasingly it's not as much as I expected. I would imagine Falmer prices will be another 5% there or thereabouts above these prices.

Expect another hike when we get to Falmer.

Does a 3% increase in 5 years constitute a 'hike'?

The problem with ALL ticket prices for the Albion is the additional costs of the travel voucher, which other clubs do not have to deal with.

Just a quick check of some premiership prices,

Blackburn - highest price £369
Tottenham - highest price £1175
Aston Villa - highest price £550
Everton - highest price £614
Fulham - highest price £849
Arsenal - £925 lower tier (but includes 7 cup games)

Makes you think.

Quite so and who knows atm how much the travel management scheme will cost to operate at Falmer as it has yet to be agreed by BHCC.

Thanks for recommending "Fools Gold" a while back, have just finished reading it.

Makes you think what exactly? That our standard price tickets are not good value for league one football? I totally agree, we do pay over the odds and I think the prices at Falmer should reflect that.

Wait a moment. It was you who said that you thought the platinum tickets were good value for money and that encouraged you. Personally, I don't think they are good value for money and that discourages me with regard to what the average supporter can expect to pay for a season ticket at Falmer.

What exactly do you mean when you say we do pay over the odds and I think the prices at Falmer should reflect that. Do you think the prices will be reduced because we have been paying over the odds for 10 years or do you think the prices will continue to be expensive.

Amazes me that people didn't think there would be a rise. First increase in 5 years and its only 3% which really isn't bad value. We all know why we have to pay more at Withdean and to ask the club (or Bloom if you like) to keep subsidising that while building a new stadium and trying to get promotion on the field is very unrealistic.

Perhaps these prices reflect the amount of the annual TV money that each club diverts to the general running costs?

Blackburn also have Jack Walker's legacy to call upon, you might expect Arsenal to be high as they have the stadium to pay for, Fulham's capacity isn't great and Tottenham have "Harry's" economics to contend with.

In the end, gate receipts are not the major source of revenue for any Premier League club, in the Football League (certainly in FL1 and FL2) they are.

For those who can and are happy to pay over the odds for a more hospitality-like experience I do think the platinum seats are good value.

What do I mean when I say we pay over the odds? well I think £400 or £500 for division 3 football of varying quality is definitely to high. However there have been very obvious reasons for our high prices with the constant battle for Falmer and reduced revenue generating opportunities at Withdean have meant we needed to pay more to generate income keep the club going.

I would like to think at Falmer with the need to get considerably more bums on seats than we have at present, no more court cases, increased revenues from non match ticket sources, that yes we would see some sort of reduction in prices. To be honest I think we deserve it.

Do I really think that will happen, hand on heart and with a deep sigh, I would say no. But I can always hope.
