On the news last night it was reported
"Zelensky said Moscow was "amassing" over 50,000 troops along the Sumy front, where Russian forces have seized several villages across the Ukrainian border in an effort to create what Putin calls "security buffer zones".

Sumy governor Oleh Hryhorov said Russian forces had seized four villages and that fighting was continuing near other settlements in the area."

If Ukraine knows they are there ready to attack why can't it take them out before that? Ukraine has been told it can attack ant military base to defend itself so why not just do it.

Like you, it's a mystery to me. I'm no military strategist but would love to have it explained.
Perhaps Zelenskiy presents it this way to hope to receive more weaponry (good if he does).

I think many have misunderestimated* the production capacity of Germany. Rheinmettal is insanely large.

It's very noticeable the recent strikes on tech/electronics/drone factories have been quite close to Moscow and now St P... Russian air defence is VERY stretched and failing,

Budanov has said they will be like Mossad and go after the perpetrators of war crimes indefinitely. "They'll never be any hiding place" etc

Even if the guns on main front stop and war is officially over/paused, can virtually guarantee the hybrid actions of destabilisation won't stop, and assassinations will continue.

There will be repercussions from this invasion for a hundred years.

I read that too. Like other so called sanctions which have recently been talked about. The West really seems to have had a half hearted approach while protecting their own economies. They still don't seem to have got it through heads, we are at war with Russia and need to do everything in our power to stop them, not just stop them but defeat them.
