Can't see anything other than the points deduction. Taking it to extremes, if they were to receive only a fine, it could in theory send a message leading to a club in trouble fielding a star player who they knew to be ineligible simply to win a vital game and (say) stay up, safe in the knowledge that the worst that would happen is that they'd be fined.

Three point deduction now is the only correct answer (with or without a fine). Decision should have been made sooner, but at least if it's made now, Rotherham's destiny is still in their own hands (one point ahead of Millwall with a game in hand). If the FL had fannied around even longer until it became a decision not of just deducting three points, but of deciding which team to get relegated after the season ended, then there would have been legal ructions.
Anyway, they could both get lucky if the FL play hard-ball with QPR!

Confirmed three point deduction. Unlucky really as hey could have played with 10 players all game and we still wouldn't have won//scored/troubled the keeper. In fact they could have played without a keeper

Its ridiculous how long this is taking to announce a decision. The longer they leave it, the more it appears they are contriving it.

This should have been done and dusted within a day or two of it being discovered. There's no investigation involved, they already have historical precedent to follow, its as straightforward as it could get. Just deduct the 3 points and have done with it so everyone knows where they stand.

This is so typical of the football authorities in this country though, everything gets dragged out for AEONS, they move at glacial pace with everything. The FA still haven't concluded their investigations or worked out whether or not to charge Malky Mackay with anything following the sexist/racist/homophobic text messages that came to light last AUGUST for christs sake.

[edit]

Finally ! Wasn't that difficult, was it.

It is not helped that the player in questions was man of the match against us, so had an impact in the result.

Which begs the question, why is there no possibility of us being compensated? A point would have been nice.
