Blimey!

Rio as captain is no bad thing, but it's an odd decision to take captaincy away from JT....perhaps because of the Euro failings?

Or because he's a loud mouthed referee baiting whinging dickhead? Hardly sets a good example as an England captain does he.

Whereas a dope test avoiding, bling merchant who likes to go round merking people is clearly the perfect role model.

i believe Capello said that he wont name the permanent captain until the next round of qualifiers...so it could still be JT as it should be

I think Rio deserves that to be honest. In the last year or so he's not only turned into a very VERY good footballer but, aside from all that MURKING bollocks that was actually quite amusing, also a good ambassador for the game. He does a load of work for his foundation now and doesn't seem to be such a dick anymore. Better that than give it to Terry who isn't the best centre back in the world and whose off field behaviour leaves a LOT to be desired.

Good move, IMO.

To be honest the most deserving player for me is Joe Cole but I can't see him getting it.

Terry can be a bit of wanker on the pitch sometimes, but I guess he only does it to protects his teams lead.

On Sunday, Kalou went down in the Arsenal area for no reason, was rolling around on the floor holding his ankle, as Arsenal were about 30 yards away from Chelseas goal.

I think it was Eboue who kicked the ball out of play because the crowd were getting upset about Kalou. When Kalou got up without the need of treatment, and the game restarted with the ball on the edge of the Chelsea area.

The ball was thrown to Terry, who the dribbled up the field and everyone expected him to kick it back to Almunia, but instead he kicked it (pretty accuratley in fact) right into the corner flag off for a throw in.

Chelsea then penned Arsenal in their own half, put loads of pressure on their defence, and got a corner

He is also one of those players that runs 50 yards across the pitch after a dodgy tackle on a Chelsea player and surrounds the ref screaming in their face - which is one of my biggest pet hates about football!

Not a surprise as Capello said he would likely try a number of different captains over the next few games
