Well if you look at the 28,790 thread and the comments of the lack of atmosphere etc, and now the whinging and stupid poll on this thread.
Lets face it our home support, although being the biggest is vocally crap.
Whining about this chant and that chant, slating the away support for being crap, it is embarrassing .
No wonder the away sides and supporters see us as easy pickings.
Just sing and make some noise, get behind the team instead of dissecting every chant or song, it is pitiful.......and makes US tinpot.

Agreed, i don't know how this is anything to do with commercialisation (usually blamed)

Our fans can't be bothered and are easily embarrassed and don't like doing anything that might draw attention to themselves,

Quite how that is the result of having a few extra ads through on e-mail or adverts on the big screen or whatever is beyond me.

Just commented on another thread.

It is unbelievably rubbish and just indicates exactly how out of touch and bad at their jobs the people responsible are.
.

For something thats so out of touch with fans a remarkable number of them seem to join in. Are they all duped ?

For goodness sake, how can it be tin pot? The club are trying to raise the atmosphere. If Ring of Fire is no good, what then? And on another note, why no words on the screen this time? Once again, a lot of der, der, der ...... followed by Stand or .... going up ..... No one know what to sing.

I think the only thing a few on this forum wouldn't call tin pot would be an actual tin pot, everything else is cringewothy, embarrassing or run it's course.........Tec. they are better off being ignored and those who want to join in with any song should regardless of what anyone else says.

Here
This will make you think about the song next time you join in.....................

In her autobiography I Walked the Line, Johnny Cash's first wife, Vivian Cash, denies that June Carter had any part in writing "Ring of Fire." In her words: "She didn't write that song any more than I did. The truth is, Johnny wrote that song, while pilled up and drunk, about a certain private female body part."

http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=2787

It also gives a different meaning to the words "going down, down, down......"

Forced atmosphere is tinpot to me, as is goal music as are clackers as are any corporate driven theme days. Maybe I'm just a grumpy old ******* who liked football without being prompted into enthusiasm

I know when to get excited and shout or sing and don't need to be led, another Americanisation creeping into British sport

It seems the majority like it or don't care so the club have obviously got it right and I am out of touch.

No, not duped. They were at The Amex and buzzing with anticipation. A remarkable number would have joined in with the theme tune to The Magic Roundabout if it was the only option.

The majority of people join in for a laugh in an "ironic" "I know this is shit, but what the hell..." type of attitude.

It IS tin pot. It will die a slow death.

Singing along to Dougal's finest hour is something i would heartily support. and agreed ROF might be faddish and the club will , if so, drop it.

But ...
1) The club are so out of touch that they realised suggesting goal music is so out of kilter with fans that it would make a rather good april fools wind up. Probably the most "in touch" move in a while.
2) And they've been asked through meetings with fans, feedback on here, talking to fans (which proves they're listening) to try and come up with ways of improving the atmosphere pre/during match and to their credit they've been having a go at doing so. Bit harsh to criticise em for trying things. (GOSTBS Lyrics, Ring of Fire, sprucing up Fanzone etc).

Its us after all that do the singing, not them...

Is that not why everyone sings every song. For a laugh. You can't tell me some palace songs are serious? If they are, My opinion on the intelligence of people is lower than I thought possible!

Let's be honest surely as a player you want the fans to be upbeat, happy and getting behind them team. NOT singing about shooting someone? They must cringe with some of the chants that come out! !

I thought the build up to ko was the send best of the season, after Arsenal. Seeing all the scarfs twirling before ko looked good IMO and fantastic to see a nearly full ground. The club should also be commended for the vast improvement outside the ground as well.

Amazes me how many people keep throwing out the wors 'tinpot' when it comes to making atmosphere. Clearly they prefer silence.

Or they are incapable of just getting involved with fan led chanting and need to be told when to get excited and when to sing along. Next we'll be needing "Cheer now" up on the big screens after we have scored :lolol:

Did we have all this shit back in the Goldstone days? It all seems so forced and American to me. On Friday I'd much rather have heard the Norwich fans and the Albion fans responding. In fact the Norwich fans were so loud they could be heard above the pap coming out of the tannoys and in response we swung some scarves around.

It's all a bit X Factor to me and big dumbing down of the game

l
Nail on head. Sadly announcers at football work to their agenda as they are paid to do something. It would take a better than average one to know when to shut up and lets the fans sing withoutthe tannoy blastting people out and drowning out the fans. Its a curse of football these days
