Thatcher wasn't evil, there are far worse leaders in history with that moniker. She was however extremely divisive to society to the point where those that suffered the most were those least able to deal with it. How she considered herself a christian well, God only knows.
The right to buy had nothing altruistic about it. It reduced local government costs but above all it was a lame attempt at converting typical labour voters into Tory ones. We now have a housing shortage which has driven up the cost of buying houses. What should have happened is that the income from housing sales should have been reinvested in new stock but local authorities were, as far as I am aware, not allowed to do that.
As for her death, I won't shed a tear. The country will not mourn her, just the Daily Mail blue rinse brigade (and you don't actually have to read the DM to fall into that category!).
As for those living in council houses, in my view (which should apply to all benefits) they should be means tested, both in respect of financial ability to pay more rent and/or actually need of the size of accommodation.
