Two words...Barry. Lloyd.

I know BL wasn't the most popular manager in our history but surely his record wasn't that bad.
1) Took over a struggling side in Jan 87 and couldn't prevent the drop.
2) Gained instant return to 2nd tier, losing only one home game.
3) Kept side in 2nd tier for next two seasons.
4) Reached play-off final in 90-91 against all the odds.
5) Relegated next season.
6) Stabilised in 92-93...9th position.
7) Sacked in December, the following season.
Yes it was rollercoaster ( similar to Withdean ) but it wasn't a slide a la George Curtis or a ( so far ) upward climb a la Gus.

I remember the game and all the pens, but forgot about the sending off! I was about 11 and we were sat in the Palace end (corporate hospitality) as my Dad worked for Virgin Atlantic (Palace's shirt sponsor) at the time.

It is the British record for most penalties but is just 1 short of the world record - i think this was a Greek league game but not sure of the year.

Still remember this game really clearly - Ian Wright's goal (and I hate to admit it) was incredible............

The club were comfortably ahead of the relegation zone, roughly where Peterborough are in the Championship now. Imagine Darren Ferguson now guiding Peterborough to bottom of the Championship by May - winning two games until the end of the season - that's what Lloyd did in his first half-season.
