Are you boys sure it was 89?....from memory I thought it was around 91...I stand to be corrected.

Pretty sure it was Easter Monday 1989. My abiding memory of the day was the respective 'firms' chasing each other up and down the road, causing a double decker bus to almost topple over as it tried to steer out of the way.....

Here it is:
Plenty of space on one of the terraces. It's interesting that the crowd was only around 14,500. Not what you'd expect for two teams that called themselves rivals, but by 1989 it wasn't nearly so intense as it had been ten years earlier.

Definitely 1988-89. By 1991, our strike force was John Byrne, Mike Small and Bryan Wade.

Ok thanks....thats what age does for you!
Watching the footage brought back memories. Absolutely sure that Mr. Morton gave us a pen to try and balance things up. No way in a million years was it a spot kick. Amazing game that we could have lost 6-1 or 7-1 or drawn 2-2.

Didn't crowds drop in late 80's/early 90's.

True enough, there was only about 15,000 at Stamford Bridge when we played Chelsea - and the Palace home game was our highest gate of the season, about 13,000 iirc. Just proves that in those pre-Sky days football was dying on its arse.

I'd rather not remember Selhurst if it's alright with you. What a shit hole. Enough to put you off your dinner looking at images like this:

Blimey I don't remember Selhurst looking as a good as that second image - have they given it a make over?

It's called the Glenn Murray Stand apparently - a new addition to the ground - dedicated to their 'always isolated on his own up front striker' and a tribute to his goal in the 2-1 Carling Cup victory over Manchester United's second reserve team on Palace's way to a Wembley final showdown with Liverpool.

Great work Goldstone Rapper (and Little Al, I suppose), haven't seen that for years! I was there but don't remember Trusson being sent off. In fact, other than his name, I don't recall an awful lot of Trusson at all. In any game. As for the ref... Very poor and as camp as a row of tents as well - can't believe he didn't give us more decisions!

I was at that game. It made my week when they mentioned it on Saint and Greavsie the following week.

Indeed they did as my mates were talking about it and funnily enough I bloody missed it as well :
