I said at the time Saunders was appointed I would have been terrified if I was a Wolves fan. He sounded utterly clueless about football and management, he just kept saying about 'pride and passion' and 'forgiving anyone mistakes as long as they worked hard and gave 110%'. Complete dinosaur

This would never have happened under Big Mick.

amen to that! Over-reaction to a bad defeat against local rivals akin to us sacking Poyet for losing to palace. Where might we be if we had done that? Just look at Wolves .................

Had a good season in non league with a side that were promotion contenders before he got there. Done nothing of note since and shows no sign of turning it round. Be lucky to see out the season if it wasnt for the fact it would make the chairman look an even bigger dick (hard I know)
than he is already.

it was worse last season in Serie A when the Genoa players were made by the fans to hand over there shirts at half time, the fans blocked off the tunnel and refused to let anyone through until the players had surrendered their shirts. That was hard to watch.

It wasn't at half-time, it was during the match! They were 4-0 down at home to Siena. Had to look it up on YouTube... Incredible! The power of the mob...

it is sad but to be fair these players are on high premiership wages still and should be fighting for promotion. it was worse last season in Serie A when the Genoa players were made by the fans to hand over there shirts at half time, the fans blocked off the tunnel and refused to let anyone through until the players had surrendered their shirts. "Hard to Watch"? Why? Interested in your comment.

I have very mixed feelings about this. I wouldn't want to be at a match when tensions ran so high that I felt in fear (I think of a game against Sheff Utd at Withdean (4-2?) a long time back where the ref actually congratulated a Utd player after scoring an undeserved penalty... some of the angriest fans I've ever seen). I was working in the pub trade throughout the late 80s, early 90s and we had more than our fair share of "ultras" causing mayhem regarding of the result on the pitch. However, I do think that players need to earn the "right" to wear the colours and too often a lack of effort from some prima donnas goes unanswered. "Your not worthy of that shirt" is something I think should be said (and responded to) more often.

Blame the fans - notoriously fickle. From my understanding, the board had verbally agreed to employ Steve Bruce, but changed their mind due to online fan protests (they wanted a bigger manager). Living pretty near to Wolverhampton, I used to love going to Molineux to get my football fix especially during their Championship winning season when the atmosphere was great and the fans were supporting of 'Super Mick', but don't go anymore. I just can't sit through all that moaning.

To be fair they don't come much "Bigger" than Brucey.

You judge a manager by soundbites? Ironically, your comment about 'pride and passion' and 'dinosaurs' has become a bit of a cliche in itself.

Booooo booooo f*** off boooooo f*** off booooo!! That means were going down in Wolves language. How do I know? I heard it enough last season whether it be on MOTD or some Wolves game on Sky I hadn't fallen asleep to. Fickle fans who didn't realise how good they had it. May yet pay the ultimate price

It is pretty weird to watch. Reduced one player to tears and a couple refused to give up their shirts. Some clubs have a weird mentality.. Koln fans have on occasion attacked their own players in the street and sent them death threats. I couldn't imagine it with Brighton, but then again with some of the reactions over the course of our season a 4-0 defeat might have set some people off.

Hope we send them down. Never really liked Wolves for some reason. Could be a lot of trouble on the last day of the season if their hooligan firm, The Subway Army come down looking for a row.

The way the bottom clubs are performing I wouldn't rule out the possibility of Birmingham joining Wolves in Div.1. If Villa end up in the Championship, then the footballing status of England's second city would probably be at its lowest ever point.

How Wolves are performing has no baring whatsoever on the Footballing fortunes of England's 2nd city

Haha I'm sure he did mention pride and passion himself and if you have a funky new phrase to replace 'old fashioned football philosophy' instead of dinosaur then let me know and I'll use it next time .

But yes I suppose I did judge him somewhat from his comments and I stand by the fact if he was taking charge of Brighton I would be terrified. Early days still but the results seem to be backing that up too. Of course you can't judge a manager completely by his opening words upon taking over. But if you compare Saunders to say, Gus and his sexy, poetic words when he took over with us, I think you know the point I'm getting at.

I've heard they're sending their sub-division down, the 6 Inch Brigade.

Truly terrifying.

I remember us losing 4-0 at home to Darlington, with an ex-Palace player (Marco Gabbiadini) scoring a hat-trick. At Gillingham too. It doesn't get much worse than that, but I don't remember anyone demanding the players' shirts off their backs! Haha.

I can't get my head round that footage. Why was the game stopped? Why did the ref and/or the police allow it to be stopped? Did they play on without any shirts on? Bizarre.

Swindon were the last team to go from top to third division without pausing.

Looks like Wednesday need to win on Saturday too or get dragged back into the relegation dogfight.

The fans eventually caved in after one player - the goalkeeper - refused to hand over his shirt. Good on him I say.

Genoa's match against Siena was suspended for 45 minutes after a fan disturbance that saw the home players intimidated in the middle of the pitch and forced to remove their shirts by angry supporters.

The game eventually restarted after goalkeeper Giuseppe Sculli's emotional intervention, with Siena resuming 4-0 in front and going on to secure an important three points in their battle against relegation.

A week after the death of Livorno midfielder Piermario Morosini on the field in Pescara, a group of home fans threatened a game's abandonment for totally different reasons.

When the hosts conceded a fourth goal early in the second half, a large group of their fans accumulated around the tunnel area and threatened to invade the pitch.

Genoa's players were kept out on the pitch as the group demanded they give up their shirts, with captain Marco Rossi gathering jerseys from all but Sculli, who tearfully confronted the supporters.

The fans retreated from the tunnel following his show of passion and allowed the game to continue, and they were belatedly given something to cheer when Cristiano Del Grosso put through his own goal.

Franco Brienza was on target twice for Siena, with Mattia Destro - on loan from Genoa - and Luigi Giorgi also scoring to take Giuseppe Sannino's side seven points clear of the bottom three.

Given Lecce's draw at Lazio, Genoa now find themselves just a single point above the drop zone as they remain without a win since February 5.

There did not seem to be much indication of what was to come when Cesare Bovo sent a free-kick just over the crossbar and Davide Biondini's volley went just wide.

But Genoa then collapsed with Siena taking control.

Brienza gave them the lead in the 17th minute with a free-kick which Genoa goalkeeper Sebastien Frey did not even move for as it flew into the far corner of his goal.

Just a minute later, Destro headed a free-kick from the other side of the field into the top corner before raising his arms apologetically to the home fans.

The third goal came in the 37th minute, again from Brienza, who teed the ball up on the edge of the penalty area and swept it into the bottom corner on the volley.

Brienza volleyed over the crossbar in the 39th minute as Siena threatened a fourth before the break.

It came shortly after the interval with Giorgi curling a shot into the far corner.

That proved to be the final straw for the group of Genoa fans, who left their usual place behind the goal and made their way towards the tunnel, from where
they sent fireworks onto the field.

The game was halted by referee Paolo Tagliavento and after a break of 20 minutes, the match officials and the Siena team left the field with the furious fans applauding them, but not letting the Genoa players approach.

Rossi spoke with the group, who demanded the Genoa players took off their shirts before leaving the field.

After several more minutes, Rossi went round and collected his team mates' shirts, but Sculli refused to take his off and, with tears in his eyes, made it clear he would not cave in to the supporters' demands.

They eventually backed down and Rossi redistributed the shirts to his team-mates to allow the match to continue.

The protests turned more peaceful as both sides looked to play down the clock following the restart, with many fans turning their backs to the field.

They missed a goal for their side as Del Grosso turned Rodrigo Palacio's cross past his own goalkeeper in the 79th minute, but it was a scant consolation on an unsavoury day.

I remember Wolves in the bottom flight in the mid-80's. They got relegated three seasons in a row to go from Div 1 to Div 4, impressive stuff. They're having a good crack at repeating that feat.

Remember going to Wembley for an Auto Windscreens/ Full Members Cup ...whatever final...between Wolves and Burnley mid to late 80's. Think they were both in the bottom tier and the crowd was close to 90,000.
NINETY BLEEDING THOUSAND!!!!....Reckon there were 30,000 ish from Burnley and the rest from Wolves.
Make no mistake, this is a decently big club we are talking about here and what has been going on is shambolic. Went to our game at Wolves( early Nov ) and the fans and stewards we talked to then, were filled with doom and gloom. They knew in their heart of hearts that Solbakken was the wrong choice and could see the writing on the wall.
I just have this feeling that we are going to relegate them on the last day.

99% certain they will bring some down, after our lot kicked off outside Molineux earlier this season.
