I'm grateful to everyone that has posted on this thread. Without it I would still be smoking like a chimney. You probably have all contributed to extending my life!

Cheers guys.

You must be over a month now. As the missus passed the month over the weekend. Well done if your still abstaining.
If you are, how much better do you feel?
Wifey is like a different person. Double relaxed. Which is odd considering she used to smoke to relax.

Anybody who tells you there is no such thing as passive smoking, is wrong. After wife stopped my chest has cleared considerable.
God knows what it does to new born, or in fact any developing lungs.

Yes, one calender month completed today.. I'm fine with it and also relaxed. Best thing about it is that I'm hardly getting any pangs at all now, and when I do it's gone in seconds. Only wish I'd quit sooner.

Just to repeat what I said previously. To anyone considering quitting, if you have the right mindset it is far easier to pack up than you may think. I cut down over time to about 6/7 smokes per day, set a date and just went for it.

I still don't believe any of the gimmicks that can be purchased will help very much if your mind isn't right for quitting.

My Wife stopped in April. I cut down to about 5 a day (perhaps 7 at weekends) and was putting off the day to stop. I decided on Sunday that I would not have a cig on Monday. Still not had one so far. I have patches but not using them yet.

I found this useful to a degree (but it does get a bit repetitive) iCoach

Showed this to the missus last night. We have both realised the error of our ways.

I have never smoked before, have started on the Bensons. Can you recommend a better brand for the starter? Its quite hard building up, as it makes me cough a lot. Hopefully this goes away with practise. Starting with
10 a day and will try and build up over the weeks. Will update on progress.

Wife has gone back to smoking 30 a day and has upped graded to Capstain non filters.

We both fell much better for it.

Cheers mate.

I found giving up smoking very easy in 1995 and I was smoking 15 cigars a day of what people call Churchills. The ones I smoked were Titan Phillies which my brother used to get me in USA if I ran out I smoked Bolivar No1. My recipe was that I was diagnosed with mouth cancer and the form that I had was, according to the specialist, entirely down to smoking and drinking neat spirits as I used to drink a bottle of REMY VSOP a day at least Simple words from the surgeon sorted that as he said if I didn't stop smoking and drinking neat spirits not to book a holiday as I would lose the deposit It worked a treat as I haven't had a cigar since that moment and am now clear although as a result of the smoking suffer with COPD. Just to remind me and if needed I have a pack of 5 Cohiba cigars in my cabinet but I know that I will never smoke them

Good man, I've still managed to resist so far. Although interestingly, every time I have a dream, I am always smoking.

I started taking Champix on June 21st and my give up day was Monday 2 July, I can confirm I have not had a fag since Sunday night when I purposely finished the pack (so non lying around). If I am honest I do not feel sick when taking the tablet and I did notice last week that the fags started tasting horrible and I was only smoking half. The only slight issue I have is getting out of the routine i.e whenever I leave work I would spark up and now feels something missing when i leave work. Hopefully this will subside very soon.

Just over 5 1/2 weeks now, I really cannot recommend Champix enough, I have had no cravings, even when getting hammered and my friends go out smoking, I just carry on drinking and don't even miss it! Well Done everyone, lets just keep it up together

Today is my first day of quitting the dirty habit. Fingers crossed! I haven't invested in any patches/e-cigs yet, just a pack of Extra chewing gums. The next few weeks are going to be hell.

It'll be interesting to find out how other NSC members are getting on? Anyone cracked it or gone back?

Can anyone recommend a good quit smoking hypnotherapist in the Brighton area? I've been quitting for ten years but slip off the wagon on a regular basis. Want to stop for good.

Starting today, I've said the last 3 weeks that each week I will stop :lolol: but finally now I WILL stop smoking. I'm going to start the gym up and get fit.

Wow I had no idea this was the price of cigerettes. I smoked rolling tobacco for over 15 years and was always the first person lighting up when I got out the door of the cinema. I tried quitting smoking several times using the gum but then found that I was addicted to the gum so on 1st Jan this year I went cold turkey (with the help of a new non-smoking boyfriend) I have finally kicked it. Its over 9 months now, I still get cravings but not enough to smoke and my only regret is that I ever started. Admittedly I look a bit fatter now (damn sweet tooth) but I am going to try to do the half marathon in Feb which I would never have attempted on my smokers lungs.
Well done everyone who has quit and is planning too, good luck and keep at it!
