Hannibal, you've got to stop putting your foot in it. The punditry role is a one day job at most. The England players don't just turn up half an hour before kick off you know.

Sorry but you've picked on two of my three favourite internationals of recent times. It'll be big Sol next.

:lolol:

It's the attitude that frustrates me.

Rooney's injured against Portugal, No shearer on the bench. We lose.

World Cup semi against Argentina in 2006, Lampard is injured we bring on Scott Parker, he gets outclassed, we lose. Scholes is putting his feet up in front of the tele.

And as for Sol, I'd rather have Danny Cullip.... (Actually, Sol could be added to the Cole, Lampard & Rooney list who shone for England at Euro 2004)

Agree with everything chappers has said. The guy is class and has been played out of position on far to many occasions. Still the second best Englsish central midfielder IMHO.

Good luck to Mr. Scholes. A fantastic player who has always excited when on the pitch. I hope he continues to have a lengthy league carrer, and stays injury free.

Bloody hell. It took 58 posts to get to a nice balanced opinion.

Cheers to that, Dover.

How fecking condescending of you, when have I suggested that I am right therefore everyone who disagrees is wrong? I merely have a different opinion to you. YOU are the one who can't accept that others have another opinion without slagging them off. Your footstamping tantrums about the new shirts being an excellent example.

I finally got somebody to snap, my first on NSC, yipeee.

Probably was being condescending, but then you do go to my level.

The frustration is down to the fact that people judge Scholes on his goal record and not other aspects of his game. He will be sorely missed by England.

I have to say I think that Scholes was one of the best midfield players I have seen play for England. He lacked goals towards the end, but he always gave 100%. He wasnt often spectacular but did the hard grafting.

Still as i have only be to a 100 England matches I will bow to the NSC boys who have probably never been to an England match EVER!

Roll on Austria and Poland in September

managers just didn't know where to play him. being stuck out on the left he was inaffective, best place was behind the front 2 imo. he will be missed by england

Listen I have given that chip years of treatment with the best Ronseal on the market, there is no way I am getting rid of it, just need one on the other shoulder to make me more balance.

Two bites in one day....

im well surprised by his decision and the majority reaction on here. class act. will be sorely missed. before anybody else says he had a bad euros, all the midfield did. i blame sven for that. not picking a defending midfielder then asking them all to defend as soon as we had gone a goal up, against france and portugal. :nono:

I can not understand how anyone would not want to play for their country. If he retired from Man U to concentrate on playing for England I'd understand, but to give up after a bit of stick, what a premadonna.

I bet Ferguson is chuffed to bits, the sweaty tosser.

I agree. That whole United v England thing really pisses me off. The more I think about this, the more I think what a selfish act this is. He's settled for being a twice quarter-finalist - what a giant of English football that makes him. He should now "roll his sleeves up", be more determined to go out after giving it his best shot at the next World Cup to help his country. Is he really satisfied bowing out in this way?

Scholes has a talent which most of us here would "kill" for and he's chosen ( no coubt with the words of Alex Ferguson ringing in your ears) to retire when he's needed more than ever. What a waste. It's pathetic.

Why all the teeth gnashing? who wants a player to represent their country who hasn't got the desire to do so any longer? No brainer really

I do agree with that. If his heart is not in it, then so be it, same with when Shearer went, he went on his terms as he longer felt he could give it his all.

With Scholes like Shearer he will be sadly missed, and thanks for the 2 goals at Hampden, you really did silence the famous Hampden roar...

Why? Why should he do that? For our benefit? f*** that, he wants to retire for his own reasons, he doesn't owe us SHIT and is quite within his rights as a HUMAN BEING to do what HE wants with his life, not what his critics want.

These people are humans, people seem to forget that very easily.
