That Zaha is on £35k per week (as are other Palace players) vindicates the message of the anti-Sky protesters. A club of Palace’s size cannot continue to pay players that sort of money without the risk of going bust.

I will be very worried if and when Albion start paying players what Palace are paying their players.

£35k a week is about the going rate for a Premier League player , that was one of the temptations that saw Leo go to Leicester.

And that is why football is killing itself.

£35k a week is chicken feed when the wages bill for Falcao , Rooney and van Persie will cost Manchester United over £45M this season.

While I totally agree that SKY is killing football, I would rather the players benefited from all the money being ripped off from the fans than the men in suits overseeing it all.

Or they could reduce the cost of season tickets dramatically, as ticket revenue is now a much lower percentage of the income for Premier League teams.

Last I checked any salaried member of staff is paid for work progressed 24/7. If I worked until 9pm one day I don't get paid any more or any less for doing so.
I have literally no idea what point you are trying to make. I too do not get overtime but my hourly rate is my weekly pay divided by my weekly contracted hours. Don't ever go contract based, will you? You will be very upset when you go for a job advertised at £15 an hour, only to find out you only get paid for the hours you work.

The problem isn't so much Sky, but what the clubs CHOOSE to do with the money that the broadcasters give them. Basically the tv billions are wasted on overpaid players. If anyone needs protesting against it is the boards who would rather fleece fans than stand up to player wages demands, which are now out of control. We are at the the stage where players who are on £10-£20,000 a week in the premier are considered POORLY paid!.

My main gripe with Sky is not the money they have pumped into football but the constant screwing around with the fixtures which have rendered saturday afternoon kick offs a novelty.

I hear you on the fixture list. Looks like we have some sensible times so far this season. Home Sat 3:00pm, or a Tue 7:45pm is how I like it. It did my head in last season, we had so many changes. Really I don't understand why SKY need to change the times at all, when customer have a red button and up to 5 Sky Sports channels.

Presumably though I wouldn't get upset because I would be paid the hours I worked. Its the difference between being salaried and being contracted. I get the point you're making but it doesn't work because footballers aren't paid by the hour so you're talking about two very different payscales.

Well I started this, I think the point I was trying to highlight is the fact that the Italian style ultras you lot are trying to mimick are from socialist working class backgrounds, living in slum areas, earning (if at all) about 1/100 of what Zaha earns, just wondered how that sits with you lot? Unless of course your 'Ultras' are city workers Monday to Friday on £100k+ pa, just playing at being hooligans at weekends.

here and there
tbf lots of bha fans slagged off the york pitch invasion including the supporters club but now everybody claims to have been up for it:moo: At least they seem to have some young fans with some passion unlike the middle aged bald warm beer drinking bearded song police we have at the amex:ohmy:

But do they have the passion or are they trying to reinvent themselves yet again? Passion would mean that some measures were taken to save their club when it was going to the wall. What did we see? Not much at all.

This is about them trying to live up to their latest reinvention, much the same as Pompey did when in the top flight = we're a rubbish club with a rubbish ground so we must be great supporters. Great supporters to be following a club that stitches other businesses up to get to the top flight. For them to be presenting themselves as campaigners against such practices is incredibly ironic.

What could we have done though when we were in admin? I have a few businesses and for the life of me I would not know how to run a football club. How many good businessmen go broke or totally mess up running one. Its not like any other business I can think of, in fact its not really a business as its either sink or swim in most cases. I have read a report that Falcao is on 346,000 per week wtf. As for the HF, I have to respect the atmosphere and the things they try. Dressing up in black and silly protests are not for me though, in fact if they stuck to just supporting they would be totally fine by me, then again I doubt they dont care in the slightest how I feel about them.

Some clubs have. But the big clubs can charge what they like and sell out thanks to football tourists.

Bad example really. You're forgetting Wilf grew up around the same area that a lot of the HF did. I suspect most of them would be proud of him and think well done. That said, how does it sit with you that Brighton's players earn anywhere between £5k and £20k per week playing in the Championship? I suspect unless everyone who sits in the North Stand is a doctor, solicitor or politician they might find that to their chargrin?

It was a typo unless you were accusing me of using it in an incorrect capacity, in which case I suggest you look up the definition.

For the first time, I saw a couple of them at the Amex - before the Charlton game.

A pair of Japanese lads in their early 20s, asking a copper to take a photo of them in front of the club shop, on their fancy camera.

Truly, we are now PLR...
