Owen

Surprise surprise he brings owen back in - you can see why some england players get pissed off with sven.
If he brings back owen and changes formation what message does that send to the likes of Defoe.
To be fair though Pete, Defoe has had plenty of chances to stake his claim by now - granted mostly coming on as a sub but Owen scored plenty coming off the bench for Madrid so who would you say is the more complete international striker?

English choices are thin on the ground granted.

Im not against a Foriegn manager another misconception, my choice has always been Wenger if available...and i think its a lot more posible than people think.

I would be happy with Martin O'Neill also, anyone who can get Celtic to a European Cup Final is a good candidate, unfortunately losing to a Porto side that then went on to win the European Cup the following season....if you can get an extra 10% out of players Like O'Neill does, at international level that really would give us the edge.

Of the English choices, certainly not Mclaren.
Allardyce and Curbishley both deserve a mention constantly getting more than can be expcected out of the players they have.

Wenger? His inability to play more than one way means Arsenal always fail in Europe, wouldn't be a good national manager.

The English options aren't exactly encouraging: Allardyce (hoooof), McClaren (good coach, yet to prove much as a manager), Bruce (scary prospect), Curbishley (not really done anything), the most promising is Stuart Pearce but he's only been manageing about 8 months.

Fair enough is owen is fit play him but the point im trying to make is that with owen out defoe should have played he was the top english goal scorer last year and he is in great form.

no.

becuase he played a team he felt that suited the situation, and we came back from wales with 3 valuable points.

spot on sven. (beckham and running the team, dnt be so stupid)

For about 10 mins at the end of matches - one of the 2 games he started he scored a stunning goal at Poland.

So its all coincidence that all 3 want to play in the midfield they have a team meeting and for the first time while in charge of england we play 3 in the middle

your a f***ing idiot, seriously.....In general i agrre but that situation Rooney was playing like a man possessed....and we werent particulaly good on the bench then...

Who cam on vassell for rooney.........rooney drops alot shorter and scares people ...vassell hogs the wide areas....Completeley different.

we would have mauled portugal that night if he was their

He also missed an absolute sitter against Ukraine (?).

Hope I'm wrong but looks like he's turning out to be another Ian Wright or Andy Cole at international level.

What players that didnt really get a chance

How many sitters didnt Owen miss in the N. Ireland game and the Azerbaijan

If but heard it all before - just because you lose one player doesnt mean you should lose the match - look at Brighton and Zamora - fair enough the just about coped with out him but they still coped and picked up wins.

You are seriously stoooopid.

striker miss chances but then owen has 21 in 42 competitive games for england....Thats 1 in every 2.

Great Record

Cole and Wright got like 20 odd caps each?

How many chances does an international striker need to prove himself? Until we start drawing 0-0 with the Faroe Islands or England fail to reach a major tournament?

Best to stick with the tried and trusted I say.

But it happens in football sometimes it knocks the stuffing out of ya.

1 player doesnt make a team........but him lampard, gerrard and cole were our only real performers in eur0 2004 and considering rooney was banging them in it does make a difference

Right so with a defence as weak as wales with hardly any pace in it you would choose to play one stiker (who drops to deep to play the lone strikers role) than 2 who would scare the shyte out of them

Write basics here......

Doesnt matter who you play against.

If u dont concede and you score you win....We did that.

In an international derby (away)....You take the sting out of the game.....we did that.

You dont here chelsea fans moan when they beat wigan 1-0 opening day.... a win is a win......and away from home any away win is a gr8 result/performance
