Good old NSC. At 7:30pm yesterday nearly everybody was excited about the strength of the team we put out. After we fail to win they are complaining that the bench wasn't strong enough.

They sat deep in the proverbial 2 tight rows of 4 (as Chelski bored Barca and Bayern to death), and didn't mind being in their own 6 yard box. In addition, several of them including the goalie, appeared to be gigantic.

CMS, who struggles with his poor touch and lack of teammate and space awareness in most games, simply would have had no space to carry out his legendary shuttle sprints.

Anyway Orlandi and SD came in after Noone left, unless you are suggesting Noone is better than both of them.

According to wikipedia all 3 transfers happened on the same day. Orlandi and Lopez came in and Noone left.

I would have used different words, but my general thinking would have been the same.

I think our biggest let down last night was our balls into the box from wide positions for Ulloa to attack, they were generally poor. This was so disappointing after our 2nd half performance against Forest.

Did you actually go to the forest game, apart from corners in the second half I can't remember a distinct amount of balls from wide going into the box. The difference from the 2 games is that forest were an attacking team thus creating space , Charlton parked the bus and even the likes of Barcelona sometimes have difficulty breaking that down ... think back to Chelsea last year

Noone at the time was greatly appreciated by Albion fans. Most were disappointed he went, wished him well, and NSC had many Orlandi and Lopez critics for many weeks, almost months.

Of course, a few spiteful and revisionist types appeared, saying they never rated Noone anyway.

If we had to sell, I would always have preferred LuaLua .... Very rarely does it. Don't suppose any other clubs were interested in LuaLua and you can see why.

I obviously watched more of he game than you at Forest than you as I saw Ulloa winning many headers that were coming in from deep and wide positions and he was knocking the ball forward or back to Buckley.

But I think you're confusing that respect for the bloke as appreciation of the player.

The Emperor wasn't wearing any clothes, which is why he only started 5 games from December onwards.

But if us FEW are being revisionists then so be it.

I agree but that was not the point happygull said that we didnt put crosses into Ulloa during the 2nd half of Forest game which is untrue we did but the quality of the crosses last night wasnt as good, perhaps if Orlandi had been on they may have been as he is the best crosser of the ball bar none at the club.

Gus picked the starting 11 and 7 for the bench. You get games where a positive line up fails to break down a team determined to leave with a point after a plucky display.

Maybe your view from the lower west bridgeford stand was differing to mine high up in the trent end but I fail to recall any time that buckley or calderon or bridge got around the back of Cohen or Hutchinson to produce crosses from wide areas .... yes Ulloa played off quite a few balls from deep once we wrestled the midfield after Guedioura ( nice one Hammond) was taken off

We seem to be getting closer, esp as Noone seems to have left the conversation, it's just semantics now.

I would counter by saying, yes you're right about Orlandi but it really doesn't matter how good the cross is, if the receiver is in a 3 v 1 situation.

Enough good crosses came into the box last night, but for all manner of reasons none were scored from.
Which is why you think the quality of the crosses last night wasn't as good (I sorted out the apostrophe for you).

Had we won 3-0, 1 from Calde, 1 from Buckley and a last minute cake icer from Vicente, you'd be saying how brilliant the balls into the box were.

We have two forwards with long-term injury, and one forward with long-term stupidity. Gus has tried to recruit a replacement on loan - but could not find anyone that met his requirements. No wonder the bench looked a bit thin.
