time to be ruthless and weed out the crap. Here's my selection of keep or get rid, based on the assumptions that any remaining contracts will be paid up and we stay up:


Stockdale -mistakes made but also some worldy saves. Not certain he can organise a defence. Give him another season. Keep agree
walton -keep agree

bruno -frustrating to watch, slow, one tempo. Get rid agree. Too old
bennett -not a great defender, good going forward, can't cross. Get rid disagree
chicksen -decent with potential. Keep disagree
calderon -passionate. Decent squad option. Keep disagree
halford -decent option in defence and up front. Long throw. Keep agree
greer - slow but decent. Keep disagree
dunk - makes mistakes but loads of potential. Keep agree
hughes -not needed with greer and halford. Get rid agree

lualua -super sub. Keep being a sub is not enough disagree
holla -decent but too pedestrian. Get rid agree
ince -as dunk. Keep agree
kayal - brilliant. Keep agree
stephens. Brilliant. Keep agree
crofts. Decent. Keep injury plagued disagree
mccourt -really talented, however, flawed genius. Gutted to say this. Get rid agree
jakey -as dunk. Keep agree
texeira -did a job for us. Sights on bigger things. Injured. Get rid if only.... Agree
carayol -loads of pace but nothing more shown. Get rid agree
kemy -waste of a wage. Get rid agree (for ages!!!!)
solly -as dunk. Keep agree

best -decent but needs some supply. Keep not wortht he money hell want and evidence he would do better disagree
baldock -starting to come good, then injured. Keep agree
cms -not enough goals, despite injury and loads of heart. Get rid agree
cog -strong and honest, but not quite good enough. Get rid did ok but not for us if we aim higher agree

in conclusion, loads of rebuilding to do in the summer to be competitive next season.

would like all this but think it won't happen... We need real change

Absolutely, tinkering around the edges won't do, we've been woeful in most departments this season, major surgery required. the only areas we have any strength in is GK and CM, but even in CM there is not much creativity and attacking/goalscoring threat. Hope Crofts gets back to where he was first half of last season when he was scoring plenty.

Getting in 11-19 (depending on whose cut list you use) new players, each of whom is superior to the person they purportedly replace, within existing financial constraints?

Yeah, like that's not a recipe for a train wreck.

The ideal is to get rid of our 8-9 worst players each year, replacing them with better.


This year there will be more 'get rids'.

All 4 remaining loans - Bennett, Best, Carayol, Halford - to go.

The expensive CMS, Kemy, Hughes, and McCourt to go.

Maksimenko to go.

Fenelon, and Monakana don't seem to have made any impact, so don't extend their contracts, unless reports from their loan clubs are glowing.

That just leaves Calderon and Ankers to get new deals, as we won't get better for the money for a utility backup player, and 3rd choice keeper.


Replace the leavers with bringing in Rea, and signing 6 high quality 1st teamers - 2 strikers, a winger, an attacking midfielder, a central defender, and a left back.

Any other signings to be Dev Squad for the future.

Ooh, I think you could have something there. Jordan Rhodes, an international footballer who cost his current side £8million when they bought him from League One, who is still young, near the end of his contract and can thus demand huge wages, and who has a number of Premier League sides reportedly interested in him. I mean: why wouldn't we be in for him?*















*Unless you consider that moving his entire family 200 odd miles to join a club who finished considerably lower in the Championship than his current side, who are renowned for their lack of goals, who escaped relegation by a whisker, and who couldn't get anywhere near his Blackburn wages, never mind what a Premier League club would pay him, might not be an entirely appealing prospect for young Jordan.
