No Kuipers in the squad tomorrow

But then don't you think Henderson's 20k fee, plus his signing on fee and his wages since he signed would also have covered GNW's brief sojourn on the south coast?

Yes, it would - but our signing has since played international football and I reckon our £20k has multiplied appreciably since then. Great decision.

With respect, you really haven't.

You're conveniently forgetting we helped support GNW's wages by moving Kuipers out to Boston - good financial sense.

I already explained my view that £20k would have provided 2.5k per week for two months. Bearing in mind that we paid this fee in january and accounting for hendo's signing on fee and wages, we may well have got a striker of GNW's calibre two months early.

Or we could have played chaigneau in goal, still shipped out kuipers and used the money for other things.

I am not doubting the long term investment (you will see I have already posted this) - just that other areas were crying out for strengthening more (I note nobody has responded to my house and car analogy).

At the end of the day with us going down and losing £1m in revenue, the Hendo transfer will have to pay off big time if we've chosen investment ahead of realistically trying to stay up by getting the striker we need.

I've read on this site that one of Hendo's key attributes is his distribution is better than FDM.

Well, today at wolves I counted 4 dead-ball kicks that went straight into touch. I can only recall one throw out (a very short roll to El Abd. He was rooted to his line, never came for a cross or corner. I did not see an International keeper out there. Granted his confidence could be low - if this is the case, he has all summer to get it out of his system.

On reflection, the only obvious benefit I could see in Hendo over FDM is his age (and maybe wage).

With respect (to LI) you have.
LI's stock answer to the striker problem is we tried but failed so you are to an extent wasting your time debating with him. To this line of reasoning I say just two words "Paul McShane". LI mimics the club's decisions at all levels; ie never questions them.

I have started to question Henderson since the Watford game.
Kuipers however was very poor at Luton. So it's not black and white (no pun) IMO.

LI conveniently overlooks the £1million pound Sky money argument and chooses instead to focus in this instance on the (minimal?) profit we could potentially gain from investing in Henderson, but haven't we already been here (big time) with the Virgo sale and what did that achieve for the team and our consequent League status?

Your car/renting a house analogy is spot on. Truth be known, with £1m on the line, we could have no doubt afforded both.

LI's knowledge is about as good as it gets on this site and presents powerful, yet skewed arguments to fit his highly pro Albion decisions. I think he's a genuine enough bloke, very funny too at times, but who falls down in the creditability stakes with his blind spot, which is to pay more attention to other people's views.

spot on

dreadful today..school boy goalkeeping in the first half when Mcshane shielded the ball for him to collect..didnt come for it and we hads to concede a corner
on recent displays not up to it

But how many kicks found a Brighton player or at least made it to the other half?

Kuipers is a lot of things, but a better distributor of a ball than Henderson is not one of them.

Why the :censored: are we continually having this argument?

Come the summer, if someone bids around half a million for Hendo we'll be snatching their hands off. End off!
