BBC2 Newsnight just started, the excellent John Curtice got the ball rolling …. the end of the two party system it appears.
Yes, although for a while it could mean the end of majority governments. It will be interesting to see how that plays out.

The end game here for Mr Farage is to disband his company, Reform, and become leader of the Conservative party, bringing all the disgruntled, disillusioned and knuckle-draggers along with him.
Singularly Reform won't ever form a majority government, but with Big Nige in charge of the Conserrvatives it could just happen - God forbid!

He knows what he does, and it ISN'T about making people's lives better - just him and his ego...!

Win at Runcorn by 6 votes after a recount. Labour losing the seat to Reform.

In no small part down to the fact that Labour got elected and immediately attacked old people, disabled people, and poor people.

And were arrogant enough to think it wouldn’t harm them.

What a daft question.

I don’t support any party that isn’t fully committed to taking us back into the EU.

Certainly not a Labour supporter with this current mob.
OK, just that you thought Reform were better aligned with the needs of old people, disabled people, poor people. Maybe they are changing in your eyes, at least at the local level.

Understand that EU membership can be a red line for some people

No worries.

But to be clear I didn’t think or type that I thought Reform were better aligned with the needs of old people, disabled people, poor people.

I don’t think Reform’s policies extend much beyond “less brown people”.

Reform are a ridiculous party, infested with cranks, racists, and delusional crack pots.

But Labour are worse right now. Hence the victory in some of the more northern parts of the country.

Interesting to see that reform win Runcorn and Lincolnshire like that. Two areas with basically sod all muslims which is the button they are pressing. It is remarkable that deprived white communities are being swept up by Reform. In what world do these communities think Farage and his party care about them? It is like Trump with MAGA. People are being played. Deprived people supporting tax cuts for the rich, but for what?

This could be the perfect time for this to happen for Labour in this electoral cycle because reform might now be like the dog that catches the car. “No what?” - let’s see what they deliver in Lincolnshire after attacking local councils for years. My guess? They will blame national government and say “if we controlled everything it would be fine” - time will tell. Their economic plans would make trump’s demolition of America seem like child’s play.

All results I have seen so far are a winner for the "Can't be bothered/Not enthused enough to Vote party". 30% turnout in a mayoral election. 46% in a by-election? Another huge wake-up call to the traditional parties.
A party led by a Trump arse-licker cannot have a future in this country, surely?

Agreed, but you did suggest that that was why they won the by-election.

Personally I think its partly because the previous MP thumped someone, partly because people have unrealistic expectations of a newly elected party and/or are just preconditioned to hate whoever is in power, and partly because Farage had spent ages there delivering his own special brand of populist rhetoric that begrudgingly, he is rather good at

Depends, if Reform and Conservatives have a pact/merge they will win the general election in my opinion.

Genuinely interested to know why Labour are worse right now. Once in power they realised things were more screwed as the Tories did a great job at hiding it. Given your aim is to get back into Europe then I suggest you might be best off joining the Labour Party, getting involved and try to make them change direction. If people split between parties of the centre/left then Reform are far more likely to win. I would suggest this would make rejoining Europe quite a lot less likely!

Yes. It is why they won the by-election.

My post was commentary. Not opinion.
