Depends, if Reform and Conservatives have a pact/merge they will win the general election in my opinion.
Then the other parties need to give voters a reason to go out and vote for them and make much more of the Farage/Trump links. Canada got rid of the pro-Trump candidate, hopefully Australia will too. We have to here.

Haven’t we been here before?

As a kid I can remember the Libs winning Edgehill in Liverpool, then one of the safest Labour seats in the country, and didn’t Roy Jenkins did something similar in Crosby for the SDP?

And 27 years ago on this very night, 1st May 1997, I sat in my house in Broadwater, with my kids asleep upstairs, and I thought Tony Blair would change my life and that of my family’s for the better, but did he?

Messrs Townsend and Daltrey possibly called it right in Won’t Get Fooled Again, “Meet the new boss, same as the old boss”

Win at Runcorn by 6 votes after a recount. Labour losing the seat to Reform.

In no small part down to the fact that Labour got elected and immediately attacked old people, disabled people, and poor people.

And were arrogant enough to think it wouldn’t harm them.
I think they knew it would harm them which is why they did it straight away, hoping over the 5 years before the next election they can win people back.

I know it’s a democracy and all that, but the apparent ‘joke’ candidates have also been a huge factor, they polled nearly 500 votes between them.

I am sure.

My post was merely reporting what damaged Labour’s chances at Northern by-elections.

there's a difference between Labour voters wandering to the center-left Liberal and SDP, and leaping to the very-right Reform. this isn't shy Tories not turning out, this is a solid left seat deciding Reform represents them better than Labour.

And also, the Tory vote was down.

Opposition parties normally do very well in by elections. Despite firing up the culture wars, Badenoch is slowly driving her party into third place nationally.
The culture wars is a weird angle for her to take. She can’t bear reform on that.

I genuinely think a few people on here should watch or listen to how the Nazis came to power. How they promised the world and demonised a certain population. It is mad how similar it all is. The rest is historyp podcasts are very good on it. The slow drip drip moving what’s acceptable etc. suddenly you get to the end and people realise Hitler was never anything else. I would suggest looking back at young Nigel to see what he stood for and people might well say the same!

Labour had a 14,000 majority and people on here are trying to call it a good result, wow!
Farage said he was going to take the UK out of the EU and he did. He then said he was going to turn his guns on to 2 tier Kier. It's about time you all (woke) woke up and smelt the roses.

Have a lovely day
Do you mean people should recognize his skills in grifting and manipulating people?

For me this would be better directed at the fools that vote for him.

I don't think there are many people on here who openly support Farage and Reform. Most can see them for what they are, with a few who flirt with the idea of supporting them but stop short of exposing their support.

I’m still waiting for the Farage ‘bollock drop’, we had a partial one when he aligned himself to that shyster Rupert Lowe, who promptly got elected, but that hasn’t ended well.

Part of me still thinks he’s almost like an establishment court jester, there to amuse and entertain, but once he’s served his purpose they, ie those men in grey suits John Major referred to, will engineer a situation and he will get dropped like a stone.

A former local Tory MP told me there’s all kinds of alleged shenigans with his MEP expenses in Brussels going back years, could they be keeping their powder dry on that?

The USA just elected a convicted felon... those sort of things don't seem to matter any more.

Farage was fined for fiddling his expenses.

OK, just that you thought Reform were better aligned with the needs of old people, disabled people, poor people. Maybe they are changing in your eyes, at least at the local level.

Understand that EU membership can be a red line for some people
How anyone can believe Reform are for disabled people is beyond me.

Reform are a ridiculous party, infested with cranks, racists, and delusional crack pots.

But Labour are worse right now. Hence the victory in some of the more northern parts of the country.
Worse than Reform? The Putin-backing, NHS-hating, borderline racist party of dimwits and knuckle dragged? And you think the current Labour government are worse than them?

Ok.
