The one on the left is 19 years old, and had a £50K education. He will have a real perception of child poverty, being a landlord himself!
If, as we're led to believe, people get more right wing as they get older and he's already in Reform at 19 then he really ought to be put on some sort of watch list frankly

Starmer’s Labour in opposition from the Truss period onwards, just had to avoid faux pas to seal a GE win, no need for detailed policies. Similarly Farage can now play that tactic due to this seismic UK change. Woefully inadequate new housing numbers for 30 years and little new infrastructure, have created a nation with an unaffordable future for folk 20 to 40 who lack wealthy parents gifting them an average now of £56k per kid.

I wonder how many of those repeating Farage's tropes on here about 'mass, unlimited, soaring, sky-high, unchecked' immigration could put their finger on the point that they think the problem started.

And I wonder what Farage was actually saying needed doing to 'resolve' immigration at that time :shootself

Reform OWN IT, they didn't like young Euro types coming over for a few years and put the Tories in power

Permanent migration from poor countries far away with the relos in tow is far better

This is the nub of most arguments about asylum seekers.

Stop the boats - make then someone else's problem.

As I mentioned previously you never see the asylum seeker numbers compared with other countries.
I think I have been misunderstood, I'm trying to express my opinion that we should be seeking foreign policies using our soft power to help stabilise the countries where migrants are coming from.

I don't want them to be other people's problem, and it's not about comparing numbers

Do they not have asylum policies?

Edit: a quick squiz at the greens policy suggests that it is far closer to TomandJerrys beliefs than Reforms.

So I guess we can definately call them an alternative.

This nails it

"The Green Party seeks not only to provide asylum to those forced from their homes but to work towards a world in which no one has to flee their home."

I wasn't suggesting this was your opinion.

I posted a link to the greens asylum process which contains a fair bit about improving things at the source. Which seems to fit with your ideas.

Not sure about other alternatives though.

Worth checking the others' policies too, to see what they are saying.

Wayne Titley, a Reform councillor for Stoke, has resigned after just 14 days, which will cause another by-election costing £10K.

Reform are good at wasting tax payers money.
Seems like the people of Stoke disagreed last night.

And …

It happens!

Almost certainly "do this and everything will work". It's the sort of simple answers he peddles which appeal to people who don't like thinking too hard about things.

"Richard Tice has hinted that he wants to become chancellor if Reform UK wins the next general election"

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2025/05/16/richard-tice-hints-chancellor-reform-government/

You missed out these bits of the article

It comes after economists warned that the UK would face an “immediate and violent” sterling crisis if Mr Farage took power in 2029. Simon French, at Panmure Liberum, said that enacting Reform’s manifesto pledges would blow an £80 billion hole in the public finances.

Mr Tice also spoke on the podcast of his time in Dubai, where his partner, Isabel Oakeshott, is based. He suggested that there were elements of the city’s society, including its attitude towards law and order, that the UK should aspire to”. But pressed on the United Arab Emirates’ attitudes towards political opponents, he admitted: “No one’s saying everything’s perfect about it, but you know…”

Since he 'splits his time' between Dubai and Skegness, where he actually has full time employment as an MP (WFH anyone ?) and seems to think Dubai is wonderful, maybe he should move there permanently and take up employment there instead ???

Anyone heard how Oakeshott is getting on with the Arabic classes, I know she's keen to integrate

We seem to have plenty of Reform voters, but few who want to admit to wanting to vote Reform. We have the shy Tory, but what's the Reform equivalent?

I suppose things like this and using Brexit as a battering ram will resonant with people

"Farage: Make me PM and I will scrap Starmer's Brexit deal

The new reset deal is expected to include a UK-EU defence pact, concessions on fish a veterinary deal, European Court of Justice oversight and alignment to EU plant and animal health rules, and concessions on youth mobility.

Farage predicted that Sir Keir will be punished at the ballot box for betraying Brexit-voting Labour voters a week after Reform’s triumph in last week’s local elections."

You could set up a google search for "Telegraph Farage Reform" and just post a link to that, rather than having to post links to every single Telegraph article praising Farage and Reform and repeating their lies. Most of which are hidden behind a Paywall for those of us who don't subscribe to the telegraph anyway :lolol:

Explain how Starmer has betrayed the Brexit voting Labour public. What has been agreed?

Farage sat on the EU fisheries committee, turned up once to get his wages, never turned up again. Why wasn't he there standing up for the UK fishing industry?

Maybe he can float up the Thames again. What's one more turd in that river anyway
