Didn’t Bond die in the last film (sorry for those who haven’t seen it ) so wouldn’t it be a new 007 and not a new James Bond ?

Or did our hero escape somehow???

It's irrelevant really. Other than the Craig films none of them were filmed to any chronological timescale. Just like Batman, he can be reinvented by the next set of film makers. Speaking of which, Christopher Nolan doing a stint on a trilogy of Bond films would get me very excited.

What I loved about the Craig era was that they made a set of movies that tracked his start as 007 to it's conclusion. It felt like a real narrative rather than separate films representing unconnected adventures. Craig's Bond managed to convey a bit of inner turmoil that I don't recall other Bond's managing, or attempting to manage - perhaps Lazenby in On Her Majesty's Secret Service, and Dalton had his moments too. Perhaps Craig's heart on his sleeve performances were a bit too much for some people's Bonds but I thought it really was a great set of movies and recently watched them all through again. .

Disagree.

The Daniel Craig movies had real potential to do what you said - connect the movies a bit more creating a strong continuos narrative - but they just messed the whole thing up. It is clear that they did not plan all the five movies at once and in the last one they had to work like maniacs to try to knit together all sorts of lose ends.

In five movies with Craig:
Bond has tried to leave his life as an agent to live with a woman he loves - twice.
Bond has left his job in MI6 and nobody knows his whereabouts for years - twice.
Bond has suddenly encountered a previously unknown criminal organization - twice.
Bond has been at odds with his bosses in MI6 - many times.

Coupled with the overemotional second half of the last film, it just feels like a bad soap opera.

Didn't say it was perfect, just that is what they attempted to do. I think Craig was originally signed up for 2, and Quantum was a definite planned sequel starting seconds after Casino ended. Then Sam Mendes was signed up and they needed the break so that he could start his vision of the imo brilliant Skyfall. Casino, Quantum and Skyfall easily make up for slightly lacking Spectre, and confused Die Another Day, although in the laters defence, I did enjoy all the references back to villian's great secret bases and hideouts amid their destruction of the world.

Just saw this story about an awesome corn maze with a Bond design(See below), and got me thinking again about who the next Bond will be. Never really a fan of Daniel Craig tbh, and hard to beat Connery or Moore, but my personal choices are either Tom Hardy or Tom Hiddleston. Any other Bond fans here? Thoughts about next Bond? Favorite movie? Mine is Thunderball.

Huge Bond fan so hope they get it right.

Anyone but Hardy or Hiddleston for me :lolol:

Henry Lloyd Hughes, Luke Evans or the fella form Grantchester. Luke Evan might be a bit old now though.

My money is on them simply going back to basics. It will be a film for sure. They will only ever do feature films, is my guess. I would like to see Henry Lloyd-Hughes playing a Bond set in the 60's. Just a one off film, back to the cold war, really retro and gritty.

I think Spectre is the best Craig film. Very underrated.

Michael Fassbender Would do a decent job I think

But as already pointed out, he’s dead so meh

It’s either not going to be James Bond, or there will be be zero tension as you know he will get out of anything

Were you worried he wouldn't escape in the previous 25 something films?

Not overly, but there was always a chance he wouldn’t, no threat.

A bit like all these prequel films/shows that Disney are pumping out

They can't do that IMO, not unless putting it a different time era. To just go on with a new bloke as if nothing happened... no.

I'll take that... definitely think they should send him back to the 60s (50s or 70s would also be fine). Drinking, smoking, gambling, mistreating women... just being the way everyone secretly wants him to.

Not sure the CCP would like that though and they have a huge say with their gigantic market.
