Maupay will always be welcome at the Albion for me.

Even if he celebrates when he inevitably scores against us !

Take it as nothing has been confirmed he hasn't signed in time for tomorrow. Probable held up with his medical, arguing with the cardio machine or such like.

He scored some memorable goals but if he does go, as likely, this one will remain top of mind for a long time. Instinctive, typical and very skillful (and in the 98th minute). And I was right behind the goal. A beauty.

You'll have to click through to YouTube to see Neil's late, late goal agaisnt Saints last December.

Also, for the newer fans on here. You'll get to see Jakob Moder - a talent not seen for a long time at The Amex.

If Everton are going to get their money's worth, they need to get him signed and playing as soon as possible. There's a strange anomaly about NM. He only scores before Christmas. His EPL scoring record for the first half of each season versus the second half shows a stark difference:

19/20 - First 19 games, played 19 scored 7 v Second 19 games, played 18 scored 3
20/21 - First 19, played 17 scored 7, v Second 19, played 16 scored 1
20/21 - First 19, played 17 scored 7, v Second 19, played 15 scored 1.

You could argue that the whole team tends to dry up on the scoring front in the second half of the season and that does seem to have been a pattern in the past. However, with Maups not starting in the last eight games of 21/22, we averaged two goals a game. His only goal for us in 2022 was in extra time against WBA in the FA Cup on the 8th January.

From our point of view, perhaps we should have been picking him now and, then, when Christmas comes and he's looking to be on his way to double figures again, we should sell him, so that he can fail to score for his new club.

Best of luck to Neal Maupay.

It does show how far we have come. Maupay hasn't got any worse. It's just that we've got better.
