You are trying to wind us up L.I ? surely you cant mean that?

What about Hammond? Of course I'm not winding up, look at Tommy Boy's answer, even he can't maintain this fiction.

i actually said "a bit shit":)

in my opinion there is only room for one of oatway and carpenter, its also silly having someone with the centra midfielf ability of hammond playing on the wing

It's just a shame that for the first time in our 3 games this season, we actually win the central midfield battle. And people look to slag them off. Incredible.

I thought Carpenter was shocking today, we may have won the midfield battle but it was inspite of, not because of him. I lost count of the number of times he got caught on the ball or passed straight to an oppersition player.

we won the central midfield battle because we outnumbered them!!!

also thought crewe could do a lot better than they did today

and saying that carpenter wasn't caught in possession today is clear fantasy

We did that because we out numbered Crewe there in the first half not because of any wonder display from Oatway and Carpenter.

Blimey, those other 3 players must have played brilliantly :jester:

This is how I would rate the team today;

Henderson - 5
Dodd - 6
MCSHANE - 8
Butters - 6
Reid - 6
Carpenter - 3
Oatway - 4
Carole - 7
Hammond - 7
Knight - 8
CKR - 6

Turienzo - 6
Robinson - 7
Nicolas - 6

It's time for Oatway and Carpenter to be replaced as the y looked out of depth against a very average Championship side. Bring Nicolas and Hammond into the centre and start Robinson MM. Feels like 2 points dropped today as we dominated for long periods of time but inconsistency from Oatway and Carpenter has cost us the 3 points.

I didn't say that, if that's the kind of nonsense you're reduced to. But his pass error rate was low today, maybe he lost about 2 or 3 - average for what you expect central midfielders to make, and in between that he bossed the game well and made some excellent searching passes.

The only curiosity for me about this discussion is to see the same anti-Oatway scapegoaters start on Carpenter. Is this some kind of each-way bet?

Both Oatway and Carpenter were again poor today. I look forward to the day when we can start with two better midfield players although I've no wish to call into question all that Messrs Oatway and Carpenter have done for the club.

Tommy Boy - if you thought they played so terrible today "a bit shit", presumably one of them will be dropped for Hull. How about a little bet then, both play I win, one of them got dropped, you win. Fancy it?

Can you see a pattern emerging here L.I or is everyone else wrong and you knoww more about football than the rest of us?

no because i'm not the manager am i?

one bad performance shouldn't always result in dropping anyway

i personally think one of them should be dropped as a pairing of nicolas and hammond lacks experiance

i would be tempted to go for oatway and hammond

Were you even at the same game?
Carpenter was a shadow of the player he has been for us.
He had an absolute mare.
Even the 5 yard passes he attempted were going to Crewe players. He played 4 long balls into space where there was nobody there at all, or running there, or attempting to run there. Looked like a panicky hoof from where I was sitting.
Was robbed on the ball on at least 3 occasions while thinking what to do.
Sluggish isn't the word.

Oatway was holding the center of midfield as he always does, but as good a servant as he's been for us, he has no creativity at this level and deserved to be withdrawn.

We desperately need a higher calibre player in the center of the pitch.

think you'll find you did say that LI

Do you think, very rarely caught in possession, is the same as never caught in possession? Do you think in the English language both those sentences mean the same thing?
