Soz I gathered that. I just don't get the HR of a football blub. Is he essentially saying he was badgering for a new contract or better deal all the time and hence disruptive?

Murray's gone why go on about it, each close season Gus has moved players out and brought new ones in and the team climbs higher in the table, so you can't argue with his decisions. Football teams are build on defence and Gus is getting ours right as GOLDSTONE has said we're where we are due to the defence, when Gus gets the attack rigtht than watch this side take off. IMO Murray was not the man Gus wanted to take the club onwards, not on Murray's terms anyway.

Absolutely this - in fact I'm not even convinced CMS would be here if Murray had stayed, for any number of reasons :

a) We would not have coughed up the £ 2.5 million.
b) Murray would have been seen as first choice given his record last season.
c) We only made the offer for CMS on 04th July 2011, AFTER Murray left on 20th May. Up until that point we had not made our intentions on signing new players anything other than speculative.
d) Top priority would have been to replace Elliot Bennett, who we knew had been on his way since the January transfer window, but opted to stay to the end of the season. That was done with Will Buckley.

We had put in a bid for CMS in January 2011, but Posh knocked it back.

I am at a complete lost as to why Crystal Palace need to sign ANY player when they have an academy that produces world beaters in all positions ?

I believe that Wilfred Zaha has just discovered he has a Greek grandfather, and with the sale proceeds when he joins Real this summer in a cash plus Ronaldo deal the Greek government is going to repay all its debts.

I wonder how differently CMS would be perceived if he had come here in January, he would have had hundreds for us last season.

Murray is different class when he's "up for it", getting him into that state of mind requires a good team spirit and excellent man-management. That's just the way it is. He won't ever change, he's just that sort of person.

At Palace, he's getting neither of the things which made him the player he was for us.

I'd take him back in a heartbeat, but it won't happen.

Which kind of reinforces my point that if Murray had stayed we would not have matched Posh's valuation, we couldn't do it in January whilst still paying Murray's wages. It was Murray's absence that was the tipping point for putting in a higher bid.

Agreed.

Said when he left he'll never be that good again.

Hes gone to another stage in his career - hes moved on and the club has moved on.

Yes he had a big impact in getting us promoted, but he isnt at the club anymore and i cant see him returning - people on here need to move on as well it seems.

Agree with this last post. It is time to move on...... but...

am I alone in being so mean spirited that I don't want former Albion heroes to do really well after they have left us? (Bobby Z excepted....)

Good player ,not used correctly by palace he's been up front on his own all season with
No one playing off him with pace.

Bennett had a lot of assists from Murray's goals last season, which is why I don't think Murray would have done as well with us once Benno went to Norwich.

I may be in a minority here but i would swap CMS with Murray. CMS imo is quite frankly not good enough for the championship. With Murray still in the side I believe we would have been pushing for Automatic promotion. He is exactly the type of player we have needed all season. I would take him back in a flash. He may be a whinging C*** but he finds the back of the net and that is what counts. I'm not interested in what happens off the pitch.
