I can never decide which...

Either Queen @ Knebworth in '86 or Pink Floyd @ Earls Court on the Divsion Bell tour in '94

I think Floyd just shade it by virtue of playing DSOTM from start to finish in the second half - even had the aeroplane across the arena

Agree about Pink Floyd sadly never got to see queen live. Another Great gig was Peter Gabriel at Earls Court circa 86 Kate Bush came on as a guest for Don't Give Up

Geno Washington at Llanidloes Community Centre 1981. At the time I wasn't a massive soul fan, we'd only moved to Mid Wales from Southwick a couple of years previously, but it didn't take long to realise that live music wasn't exactly thriving in this part of the world. End result was that anyone you had vaguely heard of was worth a try (Diamond Head were the next band we saw, and yes, they were shit). We travelled 14 miles from Newtown on a 55 seater bus which must have had at least 70 on board. As we got off the driver told us he would be leaving at 12:45. The gig was stunning and after several encores finished just before one but true to his word the bus had left, with, apparently, about 20 people, so it wasn't as if he'd just miscounted a few stragglers. After a vain attempt to book the one and only taxi in LLani the only option was to walk it. As the four of us headed for the edge of town we met up with other taxi failures and by the time we reached the open road there must have been 12-15 of us. As a set of headlights approached, for a joke I stuck out my thumb. To our surprise a Commer van stopped, the guy driving said that he recognised me from a party up in the hills a year before ( I had a fairly distinctive afro at the time). Most of us lived in Newtown, but a few lived in the outlying villages and I heard later that week that he'd taken them home too.

Snoop Doggy Dogg - Brighton Dome 2011
Super Furry Animals - Somerset House 2005
Hot Chip - Brixton 2009
The Streets - Brixton 2003

But, just for how MASSIVE he is it's probably Jay Z at Hyde Park 2008. On stage presence was crazy, I was in awe for quite a long time. He really does control a crowd that boy.

Yup probably Queen at Knebworth for me too, Freddie was brilliant. I also have a soft spot for Thin Lizzy at the Brighton Centre. A long time ago when the special effects were nothing much but Lizzy had a set of traffic lights on stage that started on Red. Then about 10 mins before they came on went Amber and then finally Green the crowd were gradually stoked up and then went ballastic as they came on. Good set too.

First gig, Stiff Little Fingers supported by The Wall at the Brighton Centre about 1980, i was standing at the front during The Wall and it was fine, daren't leave my spot during the interval even though i was gagging for a drink, then the lights dim the crowd surges and 14 year old me is getting crushed like an empty coke can aaarrrggghhh!!!, started fighting my way back and fell over, got picked up by some 6 foot punk with a huge green mohican that made him look aqbout 8 foot, he held me up one handed and asked if i was ok? but i was 14, a punk, and well hard so i replied "yeah, fuckin put me down ya ****". If that was anyone on here, 31 years later im sorry i was so gobby and genuinely, thanks.

Oasis in Lille a few years back was a surreal experience, it felt like half of Manchester had invaded a small town in France, loads of Liam Gallagher lookalikes wandering around. Went to a local pizza restaurant for a drink before the gig, it was the nearest place, there were couples sitting dining by candelight being serenaded by choruses of 'Blue Moon' being belted out by said Liam lookalikes, then from the corner came a chant of SEEEAAAGGGUUULLLLSSS!!!!! by about five Brighton fans, fair play to ya lads.

U2 at Wembley Stadium, the Joshua Tree tour, memorable for me as hugely disappointing, i think this was when Bono first started believing his own shit.

Adam and the Ants at the Brighton Centre, only went because i had comps, i did used to like them but by the time this gig came about had gone right off them as they had become so popular and sold out in the opinion of most punks, but they were really impressive and probably put more effort into their show than any band i had seen before or since.

Bruce and the E St Band in the San Siro Milan, July 2003
Arived in Milan and it was 40 degrees, mossies biting and sweaty.
75000 in the stadium, 80% Italian and what an atmosphere.
45 mins into the show, the biggest electric storm I have ever seen and it came down in stair-rods
Bruce interupted the set list and played an inpromptu Who''ll stop the Rain, (Creedence Clearwater song), then went onto Waiting for a Sunny Day,
waltzing along the cat walk with cowboy hat on getting drenched.
The storm was so strong it put out half the traffic lights in the city and the Metro was halted cos the tunnels were flooding.
3 hour concert with the most passionate vocal crowd I have ever been in, what a memory.
Check out the rain in this video awesome

I was at that U2 show, you've nailed it, couldn't agree more

It's hard to choose but if I were pushed it would have to be The Ramones, at the Channel, Boston Mass, 1988.

The Channel is (or was then) sort of like the Bostonian version of the Concorde.. the *old* Concorde, with a flat roof.

They had this rule that they would cancel shows if there was more than 3 feet of snow on the roof, as it made the building unsafe.

This was in the middle of the cold, cold winter of '88 and the show only just went ahead.

Most incredible show for an 18-yr-old fresh off the plane from Brighton to witness.

"Somebody, put something. Somebody put something in my drink!"

Elbow at The Roundhouse in October 2008 was pretty special. I'd always loved the band since Powder Blue but had never seen them live as I'd ended up overseas for years. I got back to the UK in August 2008 just as Elbow became big news and managed to bag my ticket for what turned out to be my first gig after eight years abroad. It felt like such a privilege to be there and the band were so appreciative of all the adulation after so many years plying their trade in the relative shadows. It really did feel like I'd arrived back home.

That said, I've bagged about 40 gigs since and they're all special for something.

For sheer spectacle, Pink Floyd performing the Wall at Earls Court , 1980. Went to Berlin much later to see the even bigger Roger Waters in about 1989-90ish. Floyds version won hands down.
Kiss last year at Wembley Arena .Avoided them for 30 years because I thought they were a bit lightweight . How wrong I was . Amazing show!!! Queen , Brighton Centre , Live Aid , Wembley , Knebworth ......and the Freddie tribute gig.
For sheer exileration , AC/DC Brighton Centre 1979 with Bon Scott,AC/DC in France Jan 1980 with Brian Johnson. Went with 3 other Albion fans . Bunked it all the way including the ferry .
Any Ramones gig ,.... Buzzcocks riot Top Rank,....... Exploited / UK Subs which ended up in what can only be described as a bit of rough house . Never seen violence like it , (except for the UK Subs at the Top Rank ), but made the atmosphere totally electric.
