do not attempt to change our way of life.

This is an issue though. Surely if "they" are legally allowed to stay here, and are seen legally as being as British as you or me, THEIR way of life is just as important as yours and should be given level grounding. No?

I agree. BUT - there are also a huge number of positives which the blinkered and xenophobic on here refuse to acknowledge. That is until their Muslim doctor gives them a life saving blood transfusion or some such.
Anyone would think we didnt have any doctors or f***ing nurses in this country before commonwealth immigration, the way some people on here labour the point.

If they see themselves as British. Then they would not wish to change it would they

The doctors and nurses in this country don't just come from Commonwealth countries, when I work at Barts and The Royal London the clinicians came from just about everywhere. Still, you cannot accuse them of taking your job or your home can you ? Worth mentioning that many come here to learn and take back to their own countries as well.

Of course a lot of British Trained Medical Staff head abroad for money.

El Presidente is it possible for a new smiley post icon for the side for threads that turn into right wing binfests. maybe not an outright nazi swastika, but possibly something along the lines of one of these two. Just so people are aware that the us gay right wing brighton fans are having a :catfight:

There are Irish ghettos in Manchester and Liverpool that have been here for ages. If you go to the Cheetham Hill or Crumpsall area of Manchester with a foreskin you will stand out too!

oh i know that mate, same as golders green here or whitechapel up until the 1950s , but theyve only really been ghettoes since the 1900s, hardly "centuries old" !

The problem with nursing is that relatively few British people want to do it. Applications for nurse training are down 26% compared to 2003, so what is the solution?

Do we encourage more qualified overseas nurses to come here, or should we cut back on services?

Still not aware of any ghetto's, yes we have areas with large ethnic populations but that doesn't correlate with ghetto. To me a ghetto is an area: of extreme poverty, poor housing, possibly enclosed and/or very marginalised from mainstream society.

The closest cousins to this in the UK are the sink estates but they are hardly ghetto's.

My street has an ethnic proportion of 60% plus, or as the Evening Standard described it a few years ago.......................as one of the most desirable streets in north and east London.

Simple pay people a wage to do the training. The bursery is pathetic. You could also train HCSW to train on the job.

Golders Green? Mr Bush its one of the wealthiest areas in the world. Whitechapel could certainly turn into a ghetto but evben last century it was more of an area of poverty and severe deprivation than a jew or hugenot area.
