Millwall Arrest

There was a guy in his forties with his kid in the front row today. Balding with glasses and his son looks like a mini-clone. Anyway when Marshall (Millwalls GK) went to get the ball from the lower tier Marshall told them to keep it and waste time. Anyway a few of us clocked it and then it appears that this bloke either threw water at him or a plastic bottle of water. Ten minutes later a big steward came up (flanked by police) and then escorted him away. They then came back and got the kid and the police took a statement from Liz Costa. Did anyone else see this?:(

Yes. He threw his tea at Marshall. There had already been a complaint about his language and then the tea throwing incident took place right in front of Liz Costa.

It was about 7 rows directly in front of me

I saw the bottle/cup be thrown, but that's the lot. Bit of a stupid thing to do, you're asking for trouble, especially when with a kid.

Didn't see it but if he threw a bottle of water from the upper tier it would be reasonable to at least be ejected.

Not the cleverest thing to do at potentially the most volatile football ground in the UK.

I saw him do it too but, when challenged, he tried to make out it was someone else! The child who was with him apparently told Liz Costa to f*** off.

If he was sitting close to Liz Costa, is it possible he was on the supporters coach?

I don't think so - but if he was, somehow I don't think he will be again!!!!

Bit dodgy to have free seating arrangements in a stadium with a reputation for violence, though
Not at all. It worked very well. But there were loads of empty seats.

The complete segregation of home and away supporters all the way between the railway station and the ground makes the Den one of the safest venues I've ever been to.

I'll second that, never felt the slightest threat all day - just anger at the CHAVS at East Croydon

Seriously though the stewarding was very good as well.

Was it tea or liquid or was it a bottle though?

It was out of a white plastic cup. It could have been water, tea, coffee or bovril

Whatever it was it is pretty irresponsible to throw anything at a football match let alone from the Upper Tier.

No sympathy from me.

If it was just liquid then he might but get off but surely a bottle is a ban and possible prison? The guy looks so looks like your normal office clerk. What a berk.

Apparently there had been a complaint about his language earlier.

Considering two fans got a ban for abusing a player then he may not get off. (and rightly so)
