What does it matter where you sit within the away end?

Clearly there is segregation between the home and away supporters.

Just out of interest, what was the last Brighton away game you went to?

Cardiff, because I've got exams this year as well as work and don't have the time off to get to games. It takes a day either side of a game thats any further away than Bristol to get to and back.

As I thought.

Sitting where your ticket says you should sit is hardly ever enforced at away games.

MYOB, you obviosuly no NOTHING.

As fatboy said, it is never enforced. i am yet to sit in my correct seat at any away game this season, and often they try and make you.

It makes no difference whatsoever to potential for crowd trouble.

In fact, I'd actually say that when specific seats are attempted to be enforced it causes more trouble with people arguing with stewards that they should be allowed to sit where they like. Then people get seperated as some people are forced to move which just serves to wind everyone up, creating more of a chance for any trouble.

As we often tell the stewards, if, ten minutes into the game, you got EVERYONE to sit in their correct seats, it would be chaos as no one is in them to begin with.

Well I've got no practical experience of the FAI system because I always go on the terraces....

I also don't support either side in the big flashpoint match, so I've never had to be there to see how the system works, I'm just saying that thats what the system we (attempt) to use is here.

TERRACES?! What sort of THIRD WORLD nation do you live in?

Who's that, Derry versus Limerick? Bet that's like a COULDRON. :jester:

One where our parliment isn't paranoid. We have terraces at our International matches (home fans only)

Theres a few of them - St. Pats versus Shamrock Rovers is usually the worst, and St. Pats vs. Bohemians is about as bad.

Basically that I've no idea IF the FAI system works, I can only assume it does, but as I've never been at one of the matches with fixed seating, I've no idea if it causes problems.

so why make your initial comment supporting the system of specified seating back on page 1 of this thread then?

An Irishman walks into a library and says; "Can I have some fish and chips?" to which the librarian replies; "This is a library!"

The Irishman then whispers; "Can I have some fish and chips?"

I'm supporting it because I've *heard* it has stopped the problems being as bad - there have been less arrests recently at formerly flashpoint matches

Fatboy - bugger off.

How can unreserved seating or reserved seating within a segregated away end have any bearing on trouble at games?

It is not as if troublemakers can't buy tickets together anyway.

Did he have glasses and a podgy face...I was it the same bloke who spat at the lino at Crewe, who I mentioned on here at the time?

Yes he did and as I said when I started the thread his son is an exact clone of him. In other words 10 going on 50. It is quite funny to see them together. But yes they were at Crewe towards the middle of the park about 5 rows back. I also spoke to someone this afternoon whom saw him and three kids being ejected. If this was the case could they have arrested him first, charged him and then let him out, all before the end of the game? My 10 year old was with me at Crewe and MIllwall and although we all like to get behind the team and sing etc. I do not like him singing the F word.

We've also got terraces in our Third World nation. You can come and stand on them in February if you like. That's if you've got the bottle to visit Jurassic Park, you big tart.

My question is, could someone be arrested for screaming at a football match? I doubt it but could be wrong.

If the match was at Withdean perhaps the person responsible could be arrested for disturbing the peace?
