I cannot...and neither can you.....
but apparently, only MUSLIMS have been a problem...you dont know HOW MANY jews, or christians have refused to work on a saturday or sunday...or can you?

The only reason this issue is highlighted, is because of a MISTAKE whilst invoking M&S HR policy...as im sure you know, but would rather have a bit of shit stirring.

I dont put muslims rights way above anybody elses...at all.... My GF is of the halal Jagermeister drinking variety, and couldnt give a shit about this sort of crap.
She like most muslims, and most Christians is muslim in name only....

Thanks for the input...carry on organising your St Georges day event...inviting Neo Nazis, Racists, and violent, drunken thugs to Brighton for football style violence MarkFella.

Most Muslims are Muslims ' in name only , really ? Are you really trying to assert that most Muslims pay lip service to their faith ? If so I'd like to know where you draw this conclusion from ?

Just been at M&S in town, getting snacks etc. Queues were massive. If some idiot had refused to serve someone because of their beliefs, and not got someone else to serve instead, it would have kicked off (as much as it can kick of in M&S).

This whole thing is pathetic. What if waiters refuse to serve meet? If it's something they don't agree with, work in the clothes section or something. FFS.

Thats the point...and what M&S have apologised for.

Why should the rights of straight, white men be above all others as they were until very recently? It was so easy when the world played by your rules, not so easy now other voices are being heard.

Any individual of any faith, should have the ability to carry out their duties without fear of comprimising their faith in the course of their employment. It is clear that M&S has enough roles within the business for this to be possible.
this is where we disagree , if the job entails compromising your religious faith, then don't apply for it , this country, for well over a thousand years has been a judeo-christian culture ,ANY immigrant, or relatively recent descendant of immigrants should be made to realise that the vast majority of people here wish that to continue, to put this in simple terms, fit in, or **** off.

but... M&S doesnt just sell bacon and booze Bushy....as M&S have apologised, citing that he should not have been working in that area, and should have been working in another area of M&S where his faith wasnt conflicted...

this really is a story about nothing.....seriously.

Not at all. I am VERY proud of my country. Its achievements, its history despite some obvious blemishes in the past.
I am VERY proud of my SERVICE to my country...your flippant little posts, like the quote, in a bid to 'win' a forum debate on NSC, will never change that.

Tell me what is 'Anti English'....as I understand it from your previous 'debates' it means 'Anti Far Right Feckwit'....nothing to do with English.

But a large multinational corparation such as M&S doesn't have to put people objected to selling alcohol on the checkout does it? So if it can avoid it, why wouldn't they? What's the point in them fighting a battle that is totally unneccessary?

The vast majority of the population, around 96% go for a job and know what it entails, they may not like the job, but they don't refuse to do a part of that job on religious grounds, they don't take the job.

The people you mentioned above are MOST MUSLIMS, really ? Are you really trying to tell me that these people are representative of around 1.6 billion Muslims worldwide ? I await your usual furious back peddling , but anyone following this thread has seen in black and white , your assertion that 'most Muslims are Muslims in name only' , if you'd meant it to mean a small group of associates you'd have said so , you didn't though , it was typical of your blind rebuttal of any attempt whatsoever to show Muslims in any light at all that doesn't suit your argument.

No back peddling from me at all....Youre right though...I should have put IMO at the end of it, but you hang onto that little nugget, and it can be a victory, and you will feel good ;-)

But keep thinking the country is being swamped with beardies who want to groom your children, change your diet, and execute people on fridays, outbreed the indigenous population, take over the government, and implement sharia law...

anyway...want to go back to what the debate is about yet?....IE M&S and its HR policy for its workers of all faiths?

half the blame lies with M&S whilst the other half lies with the muslim cashier.
the polocys should never of stood in the first place, and this not only applies to M&S but to our government aswell. this is not saudia Arabia or any other country.. this is ENGLAND and in england we shouldn't be intimidated in to filling the needs of every other religious belief bar that of our own.
the muslim cashier was at fault because what the heck was she doing at a cashiers desk in the first place when she knows full well alcohol would be passing through it.

why should marks and Spencer have to ensure that someone's faith isn't conflicted ?anyway from someone who has berated all and sundry for not reading the story , it turns out you haven't either , HE, was a SHE .

So according to the BBC M&S have apologised. Apparently it is not company policy after all. Instead they allow hypocritical practice to be dealt with flexibly by allowing such staff to perform other roles. Fair to everyone.
Thats the point...and what M&S have apologised for.
Ah, so this whole thing was a load of nonsense then. Fair enough, same ol' same ol'.
