Lynch dropped

Handling the development of young players is tricky, and no one can deny that Joel has looked a little nervey recently despite his obvious talent. McGhee has rightly stepped in and pulled him off the front line for a bit in order to help is development. Why is this so hard to understand? If our season hinges upon whether an 18yo with 5 apps. to his name starts then we really are in trouble.
I could have predicted purely from this threads title the posters that would be using it as ammo against McGhee. Is there nothing this man does that you agree with?

Hasn't Lynch been at fault for 2 or 3 goals since he came in? Certainly he got skinned for the Stains winner, and that miscontrol from Kuipers' throw was partly his fault too.

He might look composed and does have a bright future, but he makes mistakes and if he cocked up against Leicester, it would be disastrous for his confidence and probably for our Championship prospects.

But this is why McGhee needed a left back a long time ago instead of dithering about.

By the way, I am equally nervous of Mayo or Reid playing LB. I thought that El Abd has given the best account of himself in that position this season so would play him there and slot Reid in at RB where he is much more effective.

as proved by his shaky performance on Satdi Lynch is not ready, good choice by Mcghee, get Reid back there.

Spot on. He unfortunately was at fault for key goals at Southampton and Sheffield (FDM shares blame).

If he hadn't been 18, most of NSC would have been much critical of his performances - not that I want to criticise anyone for being generous to at least some of our players!

Lynch has done well for his age but Reid is a better option and an excellent natural footballer, particularly given that El Abd and Carole's form puts him on the bench.

Just a thought but why hasn't Fruity been tried at LB. He's got pace, he's got a left foot and, unlike Seb, he's prepared to get stuck in a bit.

We'd then have a LB who could get forward and deliver a good cross (whether anyone would get on the end of them is another matter).

You could protect him by moving Hammond to left midfield.

He might not be a natural back but I can't help thinking he'd be a better option than the Ginger Prince.

Apart from the goal-saving block, Lynch did not have a good game against Coventry, was done for pace a few times and looks much more of a centre back in the making.

I'd like to see ElAbd and Hart in the full back positions and Reid in midfield.

He ended up playing LB for part of the game at Cardiff. I wouldn't recommend a repeat.

I can't understand you lot - Lynch is a good player. He can play tonight and he can play on saturday can't he - he's a good player right. It won't kill him. He's in the youth team -so what, he's a fit and healthy geezer aint he? If he's a good player, and I reckon he is - then so what.

BUT if McGee reckons to rest him. Then OK he's a good manager right.

What's the matter with you lot. Keep the faith - we're still in with a fighting chance. How many folk gave us that at the start of the season?

You really do talk some shit I should stick to trying to get on X factor.

Reid is a fair player in the right position but not at left back the biggest problem being he can't kick with his left foot so consequently he forces every winger inside him instead of keeping him out wide. This allows them a route on goal.

Lynch is a far better option even with his lack of experience failing that El Abd at left back and Hinsh if fit at RB or HART with the new signing up front. Oh can't do that we haven't got a new signing up front. Reid at RB then.

Do people not remember how poor Reid was at left back?

I'd rather play El-Abd there, Reid at right back.

Although the ideal man, if he can get fit, is Jason Dodd.

McGhee did allude to that by describing his performance on Saturday as his least effective but given the 5 games in a row probably feels he is tired and needs a rest from the first team.

Or do all Eighteen year olds's have to play until they drop now. :nono:

Good rest that :jester:

So he did well there in that game.

However he has struggled at left back. Aside from it not being his preferred position, his lack of a left foot has been exploited too much this season.

Cue some sarky response, but it has been an issue with Reid at left back.
