Are those blinkers stapled on, or can you remove them?.
As THPP says he was quality against us, and the reason why the game wasn't a draw.
Although significantly more dangerous after Taricco went off, or when going down the left...

But yes, a talented young player who should have a good career at the top level ahead of him. Palace's current squad shows what an asset a good academy is, even if you inevitably lose the best products.

Will the 5M if that is agreed price go toward paying off their historic debtors who they cheated out of money, twice? No course not it will be used to fund more boom and bust football. Wonder if they will win as much in the next 30 years as they did in the last 30? Maybe boom is a bit generous on second thoughts.

I think it would be more likely to keep the club afloat. as their chairman has stated in the last couple of weeks, that the club is still running at losses in the millions.
See post below in reply to a fan accusing them of profiteering.

Profiteering out of a youth band is never going to win you friends and unfortunately its just another sign of the commercialism of football. Don't play the game, win with the academy, make it your mantra and stick to it, bring kids through and play entertaining football thats all Palace supporters ask. We don't need to spend big to win things, if we valued that we'd support Chelski!

Oh and thanks for taking the time to reply, I don't envy you at all and I bet at times you wish you could just be a fan again. You've done loads of good and have a great vibe going.

PROFITEERING? do me a favour! We are losing millions, charging the cheapest ticket prices in the league (and will continue to do so) whilst challenging, and sometimes beating, clubs with far higher incomes than ours.

On the other hand, your last paragraph is much appreciated. I can assure you that all 4 of us would much rather be just ordinary fans but that didn't seem to be an option to us 18 months ago.

Cheers

Steve

Zaha will be sold to balance the books , Clyne will go otherwise if he leaves on a "free" at the end of the season the compo only amounts to £250k under the new formula. The chairman says they're losing £M's and CPFC2010 wont be doing a SJ with their personal fortunes.

Were on Sound Financial Footing, We DONT need to sell.

You cannot run a football club on a sound financial footing when the books show there is a £3M deficit every season.

Sound financial footing and Crystal Palace, Now that’s something that your club is not normally associated with.

Says a fan of as club that lost its ground due to financial problems.
As for the present day you lot will be losing money when you have to start paying for that monstrosity on the hill.

The only way we will lose Zaha is if a team comes in with £7 million minimum. Clyne will go at the end of the season unless we get promotion but we will still get £2.5 mill at a tribunal.

Our chairman has not come out and posted that we are losing millions, so that is not the discussion point.
Your chairan has stated the financial plight of your club and that is what we are discussing here..

We as a club have in the past always lived on a tight budget, which meant selling players to balance the books and the fans would sometimes get upset when the club sold season tickets in March/April for the following season to balance the books.

But we have never ever been asked to buy season tickets before Christmas for the following season, which suggest to me there is clearly a cash flow problem at Palace.

We didn't lose it due to any financial problems, the owner was a thief and stole it.

Doesn't this just mean Liverpool will have to pay a little more to sign him now ?

1) It would mean the fee would have to be significantly higher.
2) It's fantastic news as it shows he doesn't want out. Why would he agree to this if he wasn't planning on staying with us a while longer? He would know that a longer contract would mean clubs would have to pay a lot more for him thus decrease the chance of them coming in for him. I'm afraid it looks like he'll be ripping you apart for a few more seasons yet...

That's what happened with Bennett's contract, signed a few months prior to Norwich's peaking xmas interest. It doesn't mean he doesn't want out. Your first point is the crucial one.

I also get a distinct sense of deja vu with the rather desperate claims that 'if x went for this much, then we won't get any less than that for y'... not that zaha, if sold, will quite go for the song that Bennett did (grr) but certainly we as fans are very willing to delude ourselves about the circumstances of our more beloved players... He will go for the championship equivalent kick in the balls that Bennett did as a league one product.

I will bet good money with any palace that they will feel disappointed with whatever zaha goes for, if he does. if i lose such a bet i will of course defraud my creditors and the balance will be a penny in the pound... obviously
