I think you are a LITTLE bias on this one Race...

Hart was dropped at the beginning of the season something he recalled in a Sports Argus interview a few weeks back - he was prepared to play anywhere as long as he got first team action. Carpenter would probably have not regained his place so quickly if it had not been for Oatway's injury. And Butters has been relegated to the subs bench for the past two matches.

IMO I thought the defence on Saturday was missing an experienced head to help organise them.

But then players were available on free's, so maybe those fee's could have been better used on wage packages.

Also how is it a myth, money changed hands for 2 strikers.

They money we spent on those transfer fees would not have funded the kind of long-term, higher wage deals that, say, someone like Alan Lee wanted. Remember we have to offer a premium to what clubs like Ipswich want because a player like Alan Lee is always going to choose a club like Ipswich over us if the deals are similar, because of our facilities and uncertain prospects.

I would have thought a 6 figure transfer fee could have been used to help cover the wages of a Lee or Shipperly like player for 2 seasons, coupled with the wage money being used on Turinezo.

Who said he was a villain?

What is scandalous about a petulant little shit failing to win the respect of his peers-even if they were only teenagers? You need to ask why that happened-not get all precious because it did.

But Coppell turned Reading down to start with, by all accounts he was encouraged to speak to them again. He had started a job here and wanted to finish it.

So please keep your rolleyes to yourself.

If he wanted to "finish" the job here, why wasn't he prepared to sign a long-term contract with us in the summer then? Answer - he was always keeping his options open for the main chance and good luck to him. Well done to Dick Knight for at least squeezing some money out of Madjeski rather than us getting nothing, and also having the professionalism to stay on friendly terms with Coppell so that he didn't poach any of our players (although getting back to the subject of this thread, what a shame we couldn't have offloaded the Knight misfit to him for say £250,000!).

I thought one of the main criticisms of McGhee by his jaundiced critics was that our squad-building hadn't been good enough this year, left-back, midfield, up front?

This is a typical example of how McGhee's NSC critics want it both ways, the squad wasn't good enough and that's McGhee's fault, oh, and the squad was good enough to keep us up, and that's, you guessed it, also McGhee's fault.

It's all McGhee's fault. Everything.

I dont think the midfield was a problem at the start of the season the loss of form by Hammond and chippy along with the loss of oatway started it off.

The lack of a left back has however been one one the main reasons League one football with be at Withers next year

I 100% agree with that, Lynch has been better than the other options but still not really good enough at this level.

As I said before, I really don't give a shit.

He can be as rude and unpopular as he likes; feck, he can even burn Ants with magnifying glasses for pleasure - he was our best player in both a goalscoring and creative sense, and the decision to sell him was patently a wrong one.

I don't quite understand all the moralistic fussing about Knight, to be honest - it's a bit of a dead end really.

Exiled from the South Country
A: Facts not in dispute.

1) He's gone

2) He has always been a stroppy git.

B: Issues in dispute.

1) He was played out of position

2) McGhee provoked the manifestation of his stroppy-gitism in Brighton.

B doesn't outweigh A.

Consequently; so long Leon and thanks for the penalty.

Please Mr Buck, why dont you ever read what other people say. This has been on here so many times - like this thread. How does your logic equate with this:

http://www.northstandchat.biz/showt...967&perpage=20&highlight=coppell&pagenumber=9

I had heard that Coppell felt he had taken us as far as we could go and got out at the top. But hey ho. You tell me your truth and I'll tell you mine!

What this thread has shown in microcosm, is that Richie and UB will argue in the face of everything.

That's what I admire about them (I wouldn't go as far as 'like') is that they will stick to their point of view, no matter how many times alternative facts are presented:

McGhee took over a team destined to go up!

- actually we were in play off places when he took over and that's where we ended up

McGhee ruined Knight!

- in reality, Coppell got the best out of Knight, but his ration under mcGhee in Div 1 was comparable - especially when borne in mind that Refs and defences got wise to him and that henderson had moved on

Also, if you listened to many on here, they though Darius Henderson was GASH

I wondered when you would get involved, not that you added much.

On the contrary, he provides a lot of detail in his account of how Coppell left us though, something that your account lacks. What bit of his detail do you disagree with?
