They're all *****. Live in posh houses, socialise with like minded ***** and smoke weed thinking the country is Fantasic. These ****ers should be made to live in communities that are changing before their very own eyes where crime, rape etc is common place instead of looking out their windows and seeing nothing but gold and servants.

With local council elections being held on the same day an anti Green backlash could see Lucas losing her seat. Another interesting issue in Brighton Pavilion is seeing who comes in 3rd , will it be the Conservatives or UKIP ?

In the 2010 general election, it was a straight three-way fight between Greens, Tories and Labour in Pavilion. This was with an incumbent Labour government, as we now have an incumbent Tory/coalition government, Pavilion will be a contest between Greens and Labour. My view is that the electorate will be able to recognise Lucas' quality, and the Greens will win. UKIP did poorly in B&H in the Euros this year and especially in Pavilion, have no council representation, and have little chance of having a good general election next year in B&H -- all they might do is take some votes off Labour and the Tories in Kemptown and Hove.

We'll have to wait and see how may votes UKIP take from the Conservatives and LibDems as a protest vote against the Greens and Labour. 2 horse race between Sen and Lucas with all the other candidates classed as outsiders.

But I thought the Guardian were full of flustered Blairites. Most confusing. It's as if you dismiss the newspaper as biased when they print headlines you don't like but you happily quote them when they print the stuff you do like.

And of course I said all the Guardian was like that didnt I. Weak, unworthy stuff - please raise your game

Thanks for sharing, really enjoyed that. Especially this line "Diane Abbott’s brainless but warm-hearted socialism"

Yeh she's utterly hopeless. I often have to vote for her in full facepalm mode

Aren't there rumours doing the rounds that she is being looked at for the London Mayoral elections?

You may as well hand Boris 5 more years now and have done with it. I actually quite like the woman but she's both useless and massively annoying. Not really the best combination.

Weak? There's really no need to get all defensive again. All I did was express surprise that you appeared to be cherry-picking articles. You've confirmed my suspicions, it's all good. I'd probably hold back though on unilaterally declaring it the final word though. But that's just me.

I'm genuinely torn on this - I think the Greens damage the chances of a progressive majority in this country (as do Ukip for the right) but Lucas is such a fantastic MP. Purna Sen is her equal but will get swallowed up in the PLP whipping machine.

I'm not remotely torn. I fail to see how the Greens hamper the chances of a progressive majority, and think Labour are at their best when they embrace pluralism rather than tribalism. I agree that Lucas is a fantastic MP, but the local Green administration illustrates the importance of whipping machines -- boy they could do with one, and a mechanism to curtail the meanderings of certain of their councillors.

Support for the Conservatives has surged in the past month, according to a Guardian/ICM opinion poll that puts the party four points ahead of Labour.

With just 80 days to go before the general election, the Tories are up six points since last month – their strongest showing in the Guardian’s ICM poll since May 2012 and only one point down on their 2010 general election result. Labour’s support fell by one point to 32%. The Liberal Democrats were also down a point, on 10%.

But as the Tories recovered, the smaller parties registered bigger losses. Ukip sank two, to just 9%, as did the Greens, who ended up on 7%, after their record showing last month.

If you are interested in polls I recommend the UK polling report. Covers all the polls and gives good analysis of what is really happening rather than fixating on an individual poll.
