Good Dick

A good decision by Dick Knight, albeit a bit late for me. I think we have wasted time under Wilkins. Those who defend Wilkins have got themselves in a loser's mentality and expect no better. You will all feel great when Micky gets us playing good football and winning. And you will have a regular extra 1,500 fans with you.

I think Dick Knight will go down in history as a great chairman, and I cant believe those who dont keep the faith with him. Be grateful!

What the hell MORE do you want from a chairman ? The guy is pure, red-hot, molton liquid CHARISMA.

Like somebody posted very astutely this morning on one of the threads, it's as much a showbiz decision as a footballing decision. It's all about putting bums on seats. The season ticket renewal figures must be WELL down for DK to pull a stunt like this. Can't say I ever really warmed to Wilkins, but the timing of the decision was ruthless to the point of brutality. Oh well.

Would you have preferred a decision around, say, July then Tom ?

Nope. I welcome the decision. It was still brutal though. Would have been at any time of the year. Can you imagine BEING Wilkins, being ushered in to see DK yesterday. You think, great, I've finished seventh, just missed the play-offs, maybe it's pay-rise time. Perhaps we can discuss playing budgets over a bottle of something bubbly. Then to have that bombshell dropped on you after you'd just finished traumatically telling a load of players they had no future at the club, which can't be at all a pleasant thing to do. Then to see the Argus billboards this morning: 'WILKINS SACKED'. Like he'd been found with his hand in the till or something. How can THAT feel? Like I say, it's brutal, but then maybe brutal is the way forward to get to where the club wants to be. and I'm sure Wilkins will join the massed ranks of the backroom boys, as would anyone with a mortgage and a family. Oh well. Life goes on.

All the mad Wilkins in/Knight out nutters should look at the polls - clearly two thirds think you are wrong.

68% and rising (bit like the euro against the pound!) love Dick (note: with a capital D ). Wilkins didn't ever have a blue & white army.

73% dissagree with Mouldy Boots, well who wants smelly socks anyway.

Actually Goodfella is nearer the mark! if you take into account the 18% in shock (they will realise Dick is always right in due course) then 86% and rising will be fully behind our chairman!

To be fair though, Dick ("i do no wrong") Knight could crap on their Sunday dinner and most people on this board would say Dick was right to do it.
I,m not saying Knight was wrong in re-appointing Adams,(although a pretty risky decision), does Knight ever take responsibilty himself. It was knight who championed wilkins 20 months ago............knowing that he (Wilkins) had much to learn.
Seems to me that Wilkins has done as well, if not more, than expected..............but still gets the bullet.Who,s really to blame................? Wilkins..............or Knight...?

yes - he took responsibility for finding zamora, for getting adams, taylor and coppell

he did not take responsibility though for the signing of turienzo, the sacking of mcghee, and the cock up that left us with hinshlewood in charge

Knight has been a fan of this club since before most of us were born. He has the clubs best interests at heart, always.
