To be fair though, Dick ("i do no wrong") Knight could crap on their Sunday dinner and most people on this board would say Dick was right to do it.
I,m not saying Knight was wrong in re-appointing Adams,(although a pretty risky decision), does Knight ever take responsibilty himself. It was knight who championed wilkins 20 months ago............knowing that he (Wilkins) had much to learn.
Seems to me that Wilkins has done as well, if not more, than expected..............but still gets the bullet.Who,s really to blame................? Wilkins..............or Knight...?
Not strictly fair. After Wilkins had been caretaker for a while, there ws an OK start and then results dipped a bit, Dick offered him the full-time job with a quote like "obviously things are a bit difficult at the moment, but I promised him the job and I am a man of word". Not exactly a ringing endoresement. I think Dick always had doubts about Wilkins - and he was right.
