With only 3 promotion spots up for grabs I can see Blackburn or Cardiff not making it. Whoever doesn't or both, then with the debts they already have and their recent outlay, then I fear for their future.

Both have foreign owners who are only interested in the PL, certainly not the clubs.
With only 3 places available, there are going to be some teams that have spent a lot that don't make it. I don't see how we can have any chance of competing.

I was told on Saturday, that we had made a substantial offer for Rhodes, but it was turned down.
It seems he will be on 38k a week at blackburn:wozza:
No way? Whatever the figure, it's all a bit of a joke. The parachute payments completely mess up the Championship, clubs should really protect themselves with relegation clauses, because parachute payments are just used to gamble on getting back.

He was never going to join us, Huddersfield were always meant to have a much bigger budget when we were in league one, doubt that disparity will have changed anywhere near enough, despite Amex, given the info released from Gus etc.

Who told you, is it a reliable source, is that the first time you've heard of a transfer deal or do you have a history of info? I ask, because if true, then we've obviously got a chunk of money ready to spend on someone.

As reliable as any other source. I was told by a friend, who is related to someone who has a connection to the club, (no, i'm not telling). I do know this person would not BS me if not true.

This is probably my first and only transfer rumour.

£7m puts into perspective that £2.5m for a striker of similar credentials (CMS) wasn't such a bad deal afterall.

No, I think it shows what shocking business it is from Blackburn (or fantastic business from Huddersfield!). I think he's worth £3m absolute tops. He's only scored 1 Championship goal hasn't he?

Thank the lord we didnt get him if his price is £7m and 38k wages. That is pretty much Blackburns ENTIRE parachute payment on a player with no proven pedigree above div 1. I pray they dont go up.

Great piece of business. Just shows how mid table we will be this season, as we can't compete.

Yes you're right we brought in 3 players with Champions league experience for no fee and they bought a player from league 1 for 7mil, we can complete but not at the cost of financial meltdown.

Frankly, the Football League should distance itself from the Premier League because, without sucking the Football League dry for players (at knock down prices), the Premier League could not exist - HOORAY !

Blackburn agree Jordan Rhodes fee worth £8m with Huddersfield - BBC Sport

Huddersfield striker Jordan Rhodes will undergo a medical at Blackburn Rovers on Thursday after the clubs agreed a deal worth up to £8m.
He has agreed personal terms on a four-year deal, with a £4.5m initial fee which will rise depending on factors such as Premier League promotion.
Blackburn have seen a series of bids rejected, but the breakthrough came on Wednesday afternoon.
The Scotland player, 22, is expected to complete the move in the next 24 hours.
Blackburn boss Steve Kean has been chasing Rhodes for three weeks following a long-term injury to Leon Best.
More to follow.

Never have liked Blackburn; 14000 home gates? They are a wee club and I for one will rejoice when they fall on their fat Lancashire faces this season.

Especially as they are sponsored and bankrolled by some Indian chicken conglomerate!

PATHETIC!

Blackburn have been absolutely bumraped by Huddersfield at that price. They are putting immense pressure on themselves and the embattled Kean to get auto promotion. I rather like the less pressured and enjoyable 25000 full Amex with Gus thanks as opposed to 14-15000 rattling around in a northern hovel moaning to high heaven about everything.
