Heard a rumour at the game today that Johnny Jackson of Charlton has agreed a pre- contract agreement to join us via Charlton where he is out of contract in July. Might be true ?, he played with Gus and Tanno at Spurs and can score goals from the penalty spot !!!.
We have also been linked with Dale Jennings of Tranmere according to this fan ?
Time will tell if true ????

Worringly I thought this thread was about Jonny Dixon to start with.

I posted about Jackson on here about a week ago. Your source is correct, this will happen if Charlton do not get promoted.

He would be a good signing in my opinion, scored something like 14 goals from midfield.

Would be a great addition to the squad. Can play left back, left mid or in a similar role to Sparrow & as previously mentioned can take a pen too.

Look like he scores a fair bit for a midfielder - is that mainly from penalties?

If he does sign though, we could possibly have Navarro, Dicker, Bridcutt, Kish, Sparrow, Caskey at least as centre-midfielders - where would he fit in? Unless this is a sign that Dicker and Bridcutt won't be signing...

The seaside.
Great player. 8th in 442 magazine's Top Ten League One players chart. Very attack minded on the left but needs to have a decent cb or cm (neither of which we have) alongside to cover counter attacks when he loses possession in the oppo half. Quite injury prone. We have more chance of going down than going up, and I imagine we will have an almost entirely new squad next season (as much Powell wanting to build his own as people wanting to leave) so please take who you like. Preferable Alan McCormack and Simon Francis. Ta x

Can we have Wright-Phillips instead?

I wanted us to sign him when he left Colchester and then again Notts County would be good cover for left midfield or left back. Poyet is reported to have said one of his signings for the summer is a specialist penalty taker so perhaps there is some truth in this rumour.

Out of contract so the price would be right.

Jackson would be a good signing playing something similar to the role Gus foresaw for Ryan Harley before we were gazzumped by Swansea. And yes he scores penalties for fun !
