I think it’s both likely and welcome that he won’t be allowed to leave for less than £100m. I think he would be a huge asset for Liverpool as the ideal replacement for Nunez and they have a considerable war chest due spending very little last summer. If they can find better value with another player then good luck to them and we get to keep him. Win-win for us.

This season, in September 2024, he wasn't named in the original squad but was called up as a late replacement. He was an unused sub against Ecuador and came on as a half-time sub in a 1-0 defeat away in Paraguay.

He was then called up in March; started and played 60 minutes in a win at home to Colombia and then wasn't used in a 4-1 defeat away in Argentina.

So, a bit-part player at best.

It's got nothing to do with whether it's England or Brazil, but everything to do with the amount of game time. Joao Pedro may well become a regular for Brazil... but he certainly isn't yet.

If he goes (after we get the fee the club funds acceptable) I think it is because he will get to play in the Champions League, have a much better chance of winning a trophy and of course be paid quite a lot more but I hope he stays because he can turn games on their head will one moment of brilliance, is an excellent penalty taker and great technique. My hunch is he will go but I have no issue with him not being a team player or being at odds with Brighton’s values. He’s only 23 and I think he’s going to a really special player when he peaks and unless he goes abroad he could be playing against us for a decade!
