Being reported in some media outlets that we are chasing Jason Knight a young 20 year old midfielder with Derby.

West Ham and Crystal Palace also interested

Anyone know much about him ?

From what I've heard, he's 20 years old and plays for Derby. Predominantly a midfielder and is apparently gaining interest from West Ham and Crystal Palace as well as ourselves. At least that's what is being reported in some media outlets.

“ Predominantly central midfielder he made his first team debut on 5 August 2019 in a 2–1 win away at Huddersfield Town.
On 22 January 2020 Knight signed a new contract with Derby running until June 2023.
On 16 January 2021, Knight was handed his first captaincy for Derby County, in Wayne Rooney's first game as coach.
Has scored 8 goals in 70 games.

Knight has represented his native Ireland at every level from under-15 right up to under-21 and made his debut for the senior team away to Finland on 14 October 2020. He made his full debut against Bulgaria in the UEFA Nations League 18 November 2020 and has 5 ROI caps but has yet to score”

Not directly comparable but potentially a Molumby swap/upgrade to add squad depth? If we did sign him I suspect we would loan him straight back

Very good player, will play in the premier league soon, probably not with us though!! Struggled at times last season but that's a young player in a malfunctioning team for you....

Still a kid - but shows a lot of maturity (so much so that he is Derby captain).

He will be playing in the PL next season - and will get better. He can tackle and is hard to push off the ball. He has a really good engine and gives 100% every game.

His best position is probably as a no. 10 and it is possible that the club see him as a replacement for Bissouma

Sounds promising :)

Not sure how reliable the link to us is, mind.

He fits the mould of the type of player that Brighton have been targeting over the past couple of seasons - so I could see it being a genuine interest.

Assuming that Bissouma and White leave then they will have to be replaced - and Knight would be a decent option for midfield (on a side note - Potter should also look at another Irish guy - Dara O'Shea - to replace White. He has huge potential and proved the one of the best, if not the best, WBA player last season).

I think the idea is that we don't look for a replacement for Bissouma (he is/they are already here), and certainly not by a no.10.
