Didnt Wolves have a huge number of players on loan from a Portuguese club belonging to the same owner?

I’m not sure Wolves Chinese owners have any other football clubs. The club did use the services of a Portuguese super agent tho which lead to a lot of players joining from there.

A while back Watford has several players on loan from Udinese who were also under the same ownership, didn’t really help them long term tho.

In Watfords case having a manager longer than three weeks might help 🤣

Anyone know if Brighton have made representation to EUFA to have them slung out and replace them?

I doubt it as we are too nice...We had grounds to report Norwich over the Alex Pritchard stitch-up but decided against it as we, "wanted to maintain a cordial working relationship with all clubs".

However, what we really want is for Evangelos Marinakis to kick-off because, as I understand it, if Palace are booted-out of the Europa League, as they should be, then Forest will be promoted in their place. The Europa League is more profitable than the Conference League, plus it is a more prestigious competition, so Forest would gain from Palace being correctly denied a place in Europe. Also, with Marinakis' somewhat fiery temperament, he would be ideal to rattle a few cages at UEFA HQ so that proper outcome for the good of all football is reached.

Albion & England forever.

Legally the owner has no say in how a company in a blind trust is run. They are no longer a director and the trustees are also legally bound to not inform the owner of any decisions made. The trustee(s) run the company of their own free will.

If an owner put a company into a blind trust and then still tried to exert control and influence how it was run then both the owner, the trustee(s) and other directors would be at risk of being charged with fraud.
In theory, but we all know how it would really work. The trustees know they work for the owner, and if the owner were to casually remark to somebody at some business meeting what he thought the club should do? Well, it's entirely possible that that might somehow filter back to the trustees.

Or if one club made a transfer offer to the club in blind trust? I think the trustees will know what they are expected to do. (Note: no doubt a blind trust arrangement would actually include a transfer ban between the clubs for exactly this reason).

Watford and Udinese are owned by different members (father and son) of the same family. Totally separate ownership you see.

I was really expecting this to be a big talking point on "The Price of Football" podcast today but Kieran Maguire brushed it all off as something that would just be sorted out in time.

For all the fun this has been, I think we've all known all along that it won't amount to anything in the end and Palace will play in Europe next year, so fair enough.

As I understand it, they didn't qualify in third. It's just that third didn't get anything since the English FA was unranked in UEFA coefficients due to the European ban only having just be lifted. As a result, England only got one spot in the UEFA Cup, which went to Liverpool, who finished second.

So they never qualified. It just they would have qualified if UEFA had decided to use the same coefficients for the English FA as they did before the ban.
Not quite right. Liverpool were originally given an additional year ban, which was then lifted. I thought it was after the end of the season, but I have been corrected already, in that the decision was made before the end of the season. Still, 3rd in the top league, higher than Brighton have achieved.

Even if Palace do get into Europe, it’s now a tainted campaign blighted by their cheating and desperation. In many ways, the perfect accompaniment to their cheating FA Cup win.
Please explain how we cheated in the FA Cup win. Its not our fault the officials decided it was not a red card, in the same way that it wasnt our fault that the penalty was the wrong decision, as Mitchell plays the ball

Did he say that UEFA might take a different approach for a 'small club like Palace'?
He didn't really say much at all. Only that it was a ridiculous idea that this is anything more than just a minor administration oversight and will be resolved in plenty of time. Maybe he was just trying to reduce the stress levels of Kevin Day!

I know this is mainly just a palace baiting thread but diluting it with weak whataboutery around the cup final is spoiling the main "will they, won't they" fun of UEFA's decision.

I mean it should all get sorted out but the hint of jeopardy is delicious.

I gave you a history lesson on Tuesday, now comes the English lesson:

CHEAT

verb
1.
act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage.

2.
avoid (something undesirable) by luck or skill.

So, in summary, Henderson's actions meet both points. Definitively, literally, absolutely - CHEATING.

To be fair, in football, players of all teams cheat constantly. Not just the obvious diving and injury play acting but the vague "our ball" claims for every throw in and corner then creeping forwards for throw ins, blocking and pulling shirts in every corner. The list goes on.

Their goal keeper cheated and got away with it, that is all. Pretending he didn't cheat is stupid and pearl clutching because he did cheat is a bit silly, especially since we weren't even playing in that game.

Liverpool were given an additional three year ban when English clubs were readmitted. This was reduced to a year after they had served a year.
